    Save-Abort

Hi, I'm connected to Gain demo,
    Reload Historical/ Enable Strategies
but the Save-Abort message keeps showing
in the Control Center at the bottom left.

    Thanks,

    Hello,

Thank You for your forum post.

When you say it continues to stay there how long have you let it sit there. Does it ever go away or does it always say Saving? How much historical data are you requesting and on what instruments? Also any steps you take to cause this to happen so that I can try and reproduce on my side would also be of great help.

I look forward to assisting you further.

      Hi Brett,
not many days of data were requested. I had Barchart connected
with backup Gain. The Barchart datafeed went down for 3-4 h (~4:00 am)
There was a gap in the data. The thing is that although their connection
from London broke down, it was still shown as connected, so Gain did
not fill the gap on real time.

When I hooked up only on Gain I reloaded the historical data and the
charts looked fine, except the Saving-Abort message was persistent.

In the logs I've noticed the message:

Connection to NT Historical Market Data server lost: The process cannot access the file "path....ntd" because it is being used by another process.

I unchecked in the Options|Data the
"Get Data from Server if available"
and now when I Reload I don't the message Saving-Abort anymore.

Not sure if some internet interruption I had is behind this,

Is there a way to rectify the issue, where Barchart does not provide
data because their provider is down but they still show as "Connected"
which prohibits the backup feed to pick up? Maybe a direct data provider,
(maybe esignal) does not have this issue?

      Thanks,

        Trend,

Unfortunately not. Since if NinjaTrader believes it is connected to BarChart it will not fail over to the backup datafeed. For it to fail over the Barchart connection needs to go from Connected to a Disconnected state for the backup connection to come online.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

I've been reporting this issue since version 11. It happens if there is a connection interruption during the loading of data. It happens with gain, it happens with IB.

            Webart,

Not sure that this is related to loss of connection during data load as this is a seperate issue. Unfortunately on your issue this will result in an error if connection is lost while trying to load data.

                Gotcha,

Please see if you can get the same to occur on version .16 as it has been released today. Please take note of the installation instructions as it has changed for this release.
