    NT7b16 error after install

I followed the steps you outlined to install beta 16, but now I'm getting this error after having completed the install and attempting to run it for the first time. I'm not running any 3rd party components, etc.

jackyd, before you reinstalled were you also clearing any contents (excluding subfolders) of the MyDocuments\NinjaTrader 7\bin\Custom folder?

If not, please reinstall again and be sure to follow this step as well.

    Thanks

Yes, I did this exactly as shown in the video. I also tried to reinstall several times to make sure I followed all the steps, but had the same error each time.

I looked in the trace file and found this error:

2010-05-20 23:37:51:926 ERROR: Failed to compile custom assembly: Could not find file 'C:\Program Files (x86)\NinjaTrader 7\bin64\NinjaTrader.Vendor.dll'.

As a workaround, I pulled this file from the beta 15 backup I had and copied it into the directory above, and now everything seems to work fine again.

BTW, I've been installing and running all the beta releases as they come out for the last few months, so I'm familiar with the steps.

Let me know if there's anything else I should try as I'm not sure if my workaround will cause any instability going forward.

        jackyd,

Pulling it from B15 could introduce unknown issues. I suggest you not do that and try reinstalling it to get back the B16 one. I believe if you launched in 32-bit mode and then compiled your NinjaScript via the NinjaScript Editor you should then be able to launch 64-bit version afterwards.

thanks Josh, I'll give that a try later today.

I removed beta 16 and did another install following all the steps and this time launched it in 32-bit mode first. It gave me the attached errors resulting in windows shutting it down. (see first attachment).

Then I ran it in 64-bit mode and it launched normally. I opened the editor and recompiled an indicator and then restarted NT again in 64-bit mode.

So far the only issue I've noticed is that exporting Historical Data doesn't work. It displays a message of "retrieving export data" but nothing happens. (see second attachment) I left it overnight to see if maybe it was just very slow now, but it didn't work.

              jackyd,

The error screenshot you posted suggests you may have some SQL CE installed on your machine. Can you please try the steps Dierk mentioned here to see if it helps? http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/f...12&postcount=3

Thanks for the idea Josh, but this should not be the case for me - SQL CE has not been installed on my machine. It's a clean Win7 Pro 64-bit install with very little else running besides NT.

Development believes you really do have SQL CE installed. Can you please double check in your Add/Remove Programs again?

It isn't appearing at all under Add/Remove programs, and I know for a fact that I did not install it.

Is there some other way to tell if it's there?

Jack, thanks for checking - do you have for example Visual Studio installed on this machine where the issue occurs?

You guys were correct, SQL CE 3.5 is somehow installed on my computer even though it doesn't show up in the Add/Remove programs, etc. - the directory is there under program files, I probably should have checked there first.

I'm running MS Office Pro 2010 beta, so maybe it was packaged with that somehow. I'll upgrade it to SP2 and and see if my problem goes away.

                            Thanks for the help.

I installed SQL CE SP2 (32-bit and 64-bit based on the notes) and the errors reported below have been resolved. Thanks!

However, the Historical Data export still doesn't work for me for whatever reason. There's no error and it doesn't crash NT, it just doesn't do anything other than display the message in control center that it's "retrieving export data".
