    Failover Test

Hi, I have Barchart with backup Gain demo
How could you simulate a failover test, where the secondary feed
    feeds the signals.
By connecting on Barchart on another machine the Startegies
    are being Disabled.

    Thanks,

    trend,

You can try using software like tcpview to simulate a disconnect.

How your strategy handles a disconnect would be determined by your settings in the Tools>Options>Strategies>NinjaScript in the "On connection loss" section.

Hi Josh, I have the default Options under OnConnection.
I see with tcpview that when you Close the connection on Gain or Yahoo
they keep trying to reconnect (direct connections-button get green back in seconds), while with IQFeed the Conncetion is lost, although the backup feed (Gain) picks up and runs the strategies. In the case where you login to IQFeed from another computer the Connection/Strategies totally drop.

Is there any way to revert to the backup feed when you have someone
loggin to IQFeed from another computer. I assume it is the same behavior
(connection plus strategies drop) for the other data providers which
install the software loccaly (e.g.,LOCALHOST:xxxx) , in contrast to the
providers that go directly over the internet?

      Thanks,

        trend,

Are you saying the connection does not switch over to GAIN? What does it say in the Logs tab for connection states?

          Hi Josh,
on an earlier test and when connected to the same IQFeed ID with a computer on a different LAN the green button (bottom left) disappeared and the strategies fell into a Disconnected mode (Gain didn't pickup).
On repeating the test from the same LAN the button turns red
and the backup feed picks up on feeding the signals.

One difference though with Gain is that when disconnecting
Gain thru tcpview it keeps trying and finally reconnects,
while with IQFeed and when you disconnect on the second machine
(connect/disconnect within seconds) IQFeed fails to reconnect (still red).
You would have to manually disconnect and then reconnect again.

On Connection Loss is set to "Keep Running" with 4 Restarts within 5'

          Thanks,

            trend,

When you connect to IQFeed on your second machine, on your first machine you should see the attached screenshot. When you press OK on this DTN will disconnect on the first machine and then the GAIN feed will pick it up. Strategy will continue to run once GAIN feed takes over.

            What I did to test:
            1. Connect DTN
            2. Connect GAIN
            3. Open 1-min chart of $EURUSD with SampleMACrossOver
            4. Second computer connect DTN
            5. First computer press OK on IQConnect app message
            6. DTN connection drops out
            7. GAIN connection picks up
            8. Strategy continues to run
