NT 7 - fib retracements

Todd, have you tried using the Fib Extension Tool? It is quite similar to the Fib Retracement tool but you can place it wherever you want.

The attachment shows the retracements on the left and the extension tool on the right.

I have tried the Fib Extension tool but with a fib retracement tool I click the first anchor, the 2nd anchor and I'm done. The fib extension is more awkward.

Would it be difficult to include an option start plotting the lines on the fib retracement tool starting at the 2nd anchor point? I would think that would be easy for NT to program as an option on the fib retracement tool.

Please advise.

Thank you for the suggestion. What you can currently try is to extend the line to the right. You won't be able to remove the line from the first anchor point to the second, but you can extend it forward which is what I believe you were looking for? You can find this in the Fib properties.

Hi Josh,

I already do extend the fib line out the right. What I'm looking for it an option which allows the user to only show the fib line starting at the 2nd anchor point.

I'm not a programmer but I'm guessing that this would not be difficult for NT to do as an option. I want this because basically, all of the price action to the left of the 2nd anchor point is not applicable to the fib but it shows anyway.

Between pivot points and murrey math lines, etc, I've got a lot of horizontal lines on my charts. See screenshot.

Having an option to start showing the fib lines at the 2nd anchor point would help me keep my charts cleaner and more clear on which lines went with which fibs, etc.

This isn't the end of the world but it would help if this option could be added by the development team.

I just had a market replay issue and got a response back from support saying that Beta 18 was going to be released very soon.

Will Beta 18 have the global default for applying all fibs (or horizontal lines) to all CL charts without having to select that manually for each fib draw?

Yes, it will be available on B18.

I'm on live data now

Where do I set the default so fib retracements, horizontal lines, etc automatically apply to all CL charts?

I've browsed around but I'm not finding it. Maybe I'm just tired.

Todd, you'll have to set each draw object to appear on all charts manually. Once you do that though, they will show up on all the others automatically.

In the Attach to box, select the All Charts option. Then, when you have everything set up how you like it, you can right-click the properties window and save the template as default.

Either something is not working or I'm just missing something. It doesn't appear that anything has changed from the previous beta versions.

In the previous beta versions, I would draw a fib retracement on one CL chart, manually right click, select properties, select "all charts" which is always the 2nd option in the drop down menu and then click 'ok". I've had to do this manual process 50 to 100 times a day for fibs and horizontal lines and rays.

In Beta 18, it seems that the process is still the same.

What I'm trying to acheive is the ability to draw a fib retracement on a CL chart, go thru the manual process above once (if necessary but hopefully not) and then the 2nd fib and the 3rd fib drawn on one CL chart would automatically appear on all charts without me having to go thru the manual process above on the 2nd and 3rd fib drawings.

Is that your understanding of what this new feature is supposed to do?

You need to actually save it now as your default settings for that object. Select attach to all charts then right click>Manage templates>save as template with name "Default" without the quotes.

Ok... I thought I did save it but it appears that I need to choose all charts, then click ok, then go back in and save the default template.

Anyway... it appears to be working now.
