    Fibonacci Retracement

    Version: 7.0.0.15

    New to NT. Some questions.

Fibonacci Retracement with "Extend Right" set and "Auto Scale" NOT set.
    (1) On the "Text Location", what is the difference between "Inside Left" and "Extreme Left"?? If I change back and forth between the two I can not see a discernable difference.

    (2) If the leftmost anchor is far to the left of the visible window and the text is set to "Left", then the text may not be visible and you can not tell if you are dealing with the 50%, 61.8%, etc. If the text is set to "Left" shouldn't it "float" along the left side of the visible window instead of disappearing off to the left??

    (3) I also use Fibs to "project" targets that are above/below the anchor points and then set my targets on the DOM accordingly. If these projections are above/below the visible window there is no way to see these values. Fib values do not appear in the data box and the only values that appear in the "Properties", "Data" are the anchor points. Also, I can not drag the window up or down to see these values. Is there any way to see these if they are off the visible window other than changing the auto scale??

    (4) Also, the only way I can set focus to the Fibs is if I click on the line between the anchors or the text of the anchors. If the anchors are off the visible window then I have to drag the window to the left until the anchor or anchor text appears. Why doesn't clicking on the 0.0%, 50%, 61.8%, 100%, etc. lines ANYWHERE set focus on the tool??

    Hello,

Thank you for your forum post.

    1) Please see the attached screenshot for the difference. The difference with the inside right means that it will be drawn on the right side of where the fib lin is drawn wheras extream right draws in on the right of the chart.

    2) In order for the text to be on the left of the chart you would need to use extream left and select the check mark to extend the fib lines to the left.

    3) To make the fib that extends visable you will need to double click on to open the fibs properties and check mark the option for auto scale that way it is factored in with the auto scale of the chart.

    4) This is correct you must click on the line. I will submit this into development however. Thank You.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

      In response to your answers:
      (1) How do I get to the attached screen shot??

      (2) I think there was confusion here. I never use the "Right" setting for text, I always use the "Left" and I only use the "Extend Right". My question deals with the "Left Text" disappearing. When the text is set to "Left", why does the text disappear from the visible window when the anchors move off to the left instead of "floating" on the left edge of the visible window?? As new price bars are printed on the right the fib anchors move to the left and disappear making the the Fib text disappear from the visible window. Draw a fib that covers many price bars and then drag the left part of the window to the right to duplicate. Eventually the text disappears and you don't know if a line is 50%, 61.8, etc.

      (3) It would be nice to be able to go into "drag mode" to "drag" the "visible" window up or down and then turn the "drag mode" off to let it return to it's normal position. Auto Scale just scrunches up all of the price bars and objects. TradeStation has this feature and it is nice when there are objects that are above/below the visible screen that you want to see.

      (4) Thanks for submitting to Development. I would think you should be able to click on any part of an object to gain focus.

        Hello,

        1) I must have forgot to attach apologize.

        2) You will need to use the Extend left checked and the Extream left settings for it to stay on the left of the chart when you scroll back, otherwise it will not stay up and will be left in its original position instead of floating on the left as you want.

        3) This is possible once the chart is in Fixed mode. Left click and drag on the price axis to change the chart into fixed mode denoted by the F in the top right hand corner of the chart. Then to move the chart up and down hold down control key and then left click and drag in the price axis to move the chart up and down.

        4) No problem.

Sorry to keep bugging you but ....

          (1) Finally see the difference! Thanks.

          (2) Fib with "Extreme Left" and "Extend Right" and "Extend Left" set. If you create a Fib Retracement for todays ES that starts and ends early in the morning with a lot of todays bars invisible to the right. Then start scrolling to the right and the Fib moves to the left.

If the start anchor point is showing the text works fine - it floats. If you start scrolling to the right the text "floats" on the left edge of the visible window as I would expect. However, once the left most anchor disappears off of the left side of the window the text stop floating and starts to disappear. If you keep scrolling to the right the text disappears altogethar. If I am trading off of the right hand edge of the chart and the left most anchor point is off the screen wayyyy to the left I can not see the text and I can't tell if it is a 50%, 61.8%, etc. All I see are fib lines but no text.

I would expect that if the Fib lines are visible then the text should be visible - they go hand-in-hand.

I tried to attach some .jpg of screen shots showing the issue but could not figure out how to attach them!??

          (3) Thanks!! This is what I was looking for. I did not know I could do this!!

            Hello,

Great. I see what you mean on the extreame left setting. I will contact development on this to see if this is as expected or if this is a bug.

              Hello,

This is as expected currently. However I have asked that they add this to the suggestion list for a future release of NinjaTrader.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
