    Batch add instruments (Instrument Manager)

    It's tedious to add a stock one after one. Stocks on the same market shares the same structures. But I have to always set it from scratch when I add a new stock.

    I wonder if you could provide something like:
    1. instrument template
    2. Support "batch add" via *.TXT or *.CSV

    I can use external programs to mass change the name/description. Then I can add them into ninjatrader effortlessly.

    You could do exactly this more efficiently with importing a list of stock symbols as shown here - http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/h...stock_symb.htm

      Thank you for your answer. I didn't realise it.

      I tried this tool but it has at least 2 major drawbacks:
      1. Unable to set tick size (the tick size is going to be wrong unless you are being lucky. You still have to correct it one by one yourself)
      2. Unable to support multiple symbol maps (It applies the same symbol to all datafeeds. You still have to go back and correct the symbol map if you use more than one datafeed)

      This is not major but we cannot set the description too in the "import stocks" tool.

      Something like this would be great.
      Stock name A,Description A,tick size A;
      Stock name B,Description B,tick size B;

      This would allow me to set the description and tick size of each stock.

          Thank you for your feedback Profitmake, I can follow the description point, but wouldn't stocks have a ticksize of 0.01 generally?

            Well not really. Unfortunately many exchanges are not as simple as US exchanges. Different stock exchanges may have very different rules.

            For example tick size structures of stock at Hong Kong stock exchange

            Stock Price___________Tick Size
            $0.01 to $0.25________$0.001
            $0.25 to $0.50________$0.005

            $0.50 to $10.00________$0.01
            $10.01 to $20.00________$0.02
            $20.01 to $100.00________$0.05
            $100.01 to $200.00________$0.10
            $200.01 to $500.01________$0.20
            $500.01 to $1000.00________$0.50
            $1000.01 to $2000.00________$1.00
            $2000.01 to $5000.00________$2.00
            $5000.01 to $9995.00________$5.00

            Only stock trading at $0.5-$10 has the tick size of $0.01

            It would be a big issue for traders who trade equities in international exchanges.

            What about this solution?
            Stock name A, , ;
            Stock name B, , ;

            Description: It will be blank if you leave it blank.
            Tick size: It will be set at $0.01 if you leave it blank.
