Deleting Executions causes wrong new entries!

    Hi,

I just deleted some Sim Account entries on the general "Executions"-Tab (Right Klick - Remove). The Account Performance display behaved as expected.

I then restarted NT 7 in order to check if everything is still right after a restart.

Result: The deleted trades are back in the "Trade"-Tab in "Account Performance"

The deleted entries are back, but as I remember, they appear different (same trade, but less executions; I'm not to sure about this).

The worst thing is though, that now there are new entries in the "Executions"-Tab, that definitely weren't traded today, neither live or paper. There are 16 FDAX executions. All referring to the Sim-Account. I definitely didn't touch FDAX today! The live trades are o.k.

Tell me, if you need something to look into this. I won't delete anything for now, so that you can check the data in case you want to.

Just wanted to let you know, that I just realized that the wrong entries refer to yesterdays FDAX trades, but they show todays date and a wrong time (late afternoon today; local time).

      Ninja,

Thanks for bring this to our attention. I have tested this on my side and thus far have not been able to duplicate. The only way I can get an execution to return after deleting it is if I deleted it while the position was open and these seems though it is expected.

Can you please try to get it to occur agian? And let me know what steps you took to get it to occur so that I can duplicate on my side. Can you remember if you had any open position when you removed the executions or any running strategies?

I look forward to assisting you further.

        Hi Brett,

No, there were definitely no trades open or strategies running, when I deleted the executions.

I had forgotten a running Sim-Trade before, that ran into a Stop. This trade then showed up in the Performance tab and was quite disturbing for me. So at that point there were no open trades or strategies and everything behaved as expected.

I then first searched the forum to find a solution. I found a threat (http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/f...ad.php?t=15254) where the solution was described. I didn't know until then, that I can remove executions. So I clicked on the relevant executions and deleted them. When I checked the Performance-Tab, everything was all right.

I then restarted NT, to see what would happen after a restart. I read somewhere, that deleted executions appeared again. Well, they do, at least in my case. Even worse, wrong entries were somehow generated too.

Right now I tried to repeat the procedure and started with deleting the first wrong FDAX entry. Result: NT has detected a problem and needs to shut down! After clicking "OK", it doesn't shut down, I closed it manually.

Now I restarted NT and it fortunately started again. The wrong entries are still there. I chose an arbitrary entry of the wrong FDAX entries and could delete it. In fact I could remove them all now after the restart.

I now also removed the executions from that Sim trade, that i wanted to remove in the first place. Stats and executions look right.

Now I restarted NT again and everything looks the way it should.

No wrong entries, no wrong stats.

Well, that's as closes as I could describe it. Although everything seems to work now, I find it still confusing that it occurred in the first place. I'd find it even frightening, if it happened with live data...

          Hello,

          Thanks for the detailed response.

I will keep testing on my side to see if I can get something that is reproducable, let me know if you run into the problem agian. Until then we will keep our eye out and let us know if the issue occurs agian, although it sounds like things are working as expected currently.

            NT crashing at start

            Hi Brett,

            There's definitely a problem here.

After our last contact I had the prior days live executions in the executions tab on a fresh start the next morning. I don't think that this is expected, at least I never saw that before.

Fortunately it had no effect on my account, statements etc.

Then (I think it was last Friday) I repeated the scenario again and removed some executions from the executions tab. After a restart they were back again. So I removed them again and they stayed deleted. If I remember well, it was after this, that NT7 started giving me error messages on a new start and now it crashes at every start. I didn't change anything else. I'll save the log and trace files and make a new installation, just to see, if this thing will start properly again. But then I'm back to 6.5. I definitely won't risk any money on an unstable beta version. That's what's recommended anyway.

By the way, which backup file should I use? The latest from yesterday or an older one? I'm afraid, that I would install the mistakes again with the backup file. On the other hand, as far as I understand, a backup file only contains general information about the account connection, workspaces, templates etc. So there should be no danger here, right?

              Hello,

Can you please send me a note to support at ninjatrader dot com and attach the following files so that I can see what is occurring with the crash and see if we can link this back to the deleting executions.

As far as restoring a backup I am unaware if this will make any effect until we take a look at the trace file.

You can find these files at the following locations, please attach these to a return email, please send the dates that the crash occured and put ATTN: Brett in the subject line and reference this forum post.

Start Menu--> My Documents--> NinjaTrader 7--> Trace--> trace.20100517 for today. (trace.yyyymmdd for any other date)

Start Menu--> My Documents--> NinjaTrader 7--> Log--> log.20100517 for today. (log.yyyymmdd for any other date)

I look forward to assisting you further.
