    No current day in ##-## chart

    Hi,

    I just imported a lot of historical data for YM ##-##. Works find, all the historical data is displayed.

    I just don't see the current day. The End date in the data series is set to today, I have minute data in the historical data manager, but no candle for today. The minute data seems to be stuck at 07:48 CT. But I have no current candle, even with the available data.

    I thought, that this may have to do with the way you build daily bars based on RTH data, but when I open a daily chart for the current contract (YM 06-10), I get a candle for today too (this would be the american night session).

    Any ideas?

    Thank you for your post.

    Please right click in your chart and select 'Data Series'.
    In the Data Series menu, set the Session Template to 'Default 24/7', then click OK.

    After clicking OK, does the missing data populate in the chart?

      Hello Kyle,

      sorry I forgot to mention this earlier. I tried your suggestion before, no effect. Also with other possible session templates.

      What I see now, after the RTH session started and after I created a new chart, is a candle for today that doesn't move. It has a small range and that's it. The daily chart candle on YM 06-10 keeps moving as the ticks come in.

            Hello NinjaTurtle,

            With Zen-Fire, the behavior you are seeing can be expected. Unfortunately, Zen-Fire does not provide data for continuous contracts. Due to this, you will see no movement in the ##-## chart.

              I see. So would it be a good idea to add my historical data to the current contract YM 06-10? Or wouldn't you recommend that and if so, why?

                Hi NinjaTurtle,

                Since you're using NT 7, I would suggest simply creating a chart of the 06-10 contract that with the date range you are looking for.

                Once the chart is requested, NinjaTrader will download and merge prior contracts in to the current resulting in a simulated continuous chart.

                  I just tried, works good. The last question is, how far does the historical data go. Currently the data goes back to 04/2009, which probably corresponds to the YM 06-09 contract in the historical data manager.

                  Is there a way to get more historical daily data, did I do something wrong or is this it?

                    Hi NinjaTurtle,

                    I'm glad to hear that this has done the trick for you.

                    This seems to be as far back as data is available for YM on our historical data server. If you require data further back, a secondary data provider or other data source would need to be used.
