Cannot export chart images with NT 7.0.0.15

    NT 7.0.0.15

When exporting any charts via -> Image -> Save as -> *.jpeg/gif NinjaTrader creates files with the extension .2010 instead of .jpeg or .gif

This worked for the prior version NT 7.0.0.14

Edited: It is possible, if renaming every chart before saving it. Problem is the format chosen for dates. For NT 7.0.0.14 this was 30_04_2010, for NT 7.0.0.15 this was changed to 30.04.2010, so NT 7.0.0.15 creates files with the extension .2010, which are unreadable.

No code has changed for 7.0.0.15 in terms of saving screenshots. On my end here it works and is generated with 4_30_2010 in the filename. Have you changed your PC locale?

There was a change with B15. However, on my PC a file name like 'ES 06-10 (1 Min) 30.04.2010.jpg' would be created. Which is perfectly readable as I e.g. double click on that file. Note: You may have set windows explorer to not show any extensions. That's why you don't see as '.jpg' extension as I do.

In my windows folder the files read

        YM 06-10 (30 Min) 30.04.2010 ______ 98 kB _______ 2010-Datei _______ 01.05.2010 21:20

This cannot be renamed, because it has the wrong data type. So NT definitely created files with an extension .2010. I attach the file that was created by NT 7.0.0.15

Then I don't know why your system cuts off the extension. It works perfectly here. You could try to create the file in a separate directory...

Do not know either, Microsoft always produces miracles. My laptop (Vista) creates the files as expected, but my XP machine does not. The point is that it worked fine for the last 30 versions of NT. Why did you make a change when there was no problem so far?

There was a problem (which you didn't experience) which required a code change.

I think this is a new NinjaTrader bug

                Hi Dierk,

just made a test. I took a chart and opened this with different graphic programs, and then saved it as <filename> 01.05.2010 to check whether my system is well-behaved. Tested with Paint, Paint Shop pro, Picase and Microsoft Office Picture Manager. All programs saved the file with the correct extension, just NinjaTrader 7.0.0.15 produces this problem.

My system is a Windows XP Professional (German) Service Pack 3, which is up-to-date. The Vista of my Notebook ignored the changes you made, so it is likely an issue caused by a tool not downward compatible, or by German configuration settings for XP.

Attached charts saved with other software and chart with .2010 extension from NinjaTrader.

                  Additional information

NT 7.0.0.15 does not store the chart, as soon as there is one dot in the file name.

For example, if I try to save a chart as <ES 06-10 (3 Min) 30.04.2010 Details>, it will create a file without extension, even if I select jpg or png below.

If I take out the date and save under <ES 06-10 (3 Min) Details>, everything is fine.

However, the date is quite useful, and I do not want to replace the dots with hyphens every time.

It works here no problem. Sorry, I don't know what's wrong with your windows system.

There is nothing wrong, all assumptions so far that something is wrong were false, the offending code was always created by NinjaTrader. It is just the easiest solution for you to blame my system.

Let us look at the facts:

NT 6.5 and NT 7.0.0.14 worked fine. You acknowledged that you made some changes with NT 7.0.0.15. These changes are thus the cause of the problem.

I also tested 4 other software packages, and they worked fine on my system as did NT 6.5. and NT 7.0.0.14. During the last 10 days I only installed NT 7.0.0.15 and Remotesoft Protector v3.1. as recommended. I cannot find out why this does not work, if you do not tell me what you changed.....

I acknowledge the issue with XP. For whatever reason it does not work there as expected. We will revert back to replacing the "." by "_" with next update. Thanks for letting us know.
