Using two connections

I am using zenfire and IQfeed.

I am curious how do i know what is being used to poulate charts.

Can I run two instances of ninja trader?? 1 that has jsut Iqfeed to populate charts. Or is there a setting so that just zenfire runs the dom and iq runs the data feed. I tried not being connected to zenfire but then i am unable to trade through my broker.

My understanding was that data is retrieved via 1) the order you connect, 2) data availability from the datafeed. So for ex. if you connect to 1)Zenfire and 2) IB, and then request a daily chart of ES, NT will look into the Zenfire connection first (no daily bars), find it can't get daily data there, and then look into the IB connection and populate the chart.

Tarkus11 is correct. NinjaTrader will request data from the first connection established. If connection A does not offer data for the requested instrument, the data request will then be passed on to connection B (and so on).

Unfortunately, it is not possible to operate two instances of NinjaTrader on the same PC simultaneously.
