B14 hangs on startup when a connection not available.

When NT7 is set to connect on startup to MBT trading and MBT server is not available , NT7 hangs, no window is seen and the only way to get out is to kill the process .

Specifically to MBT Navigator, it retries to connect every 30 seconds instead of refusing a connection, may be this is the reason of the scenario.

It means, once I set MBT as the startup connection, I can work offline only if MBT server is available. Is a very bad idea. As I'm writing it now, Sunday morning, its means I should wait till Sunday midnight when MBT server will be on the air. Even worse, to cancel a startup connection, I should wait until the connection will be available.

Of course I'll disable the startup connection on the first opportunity. But all this situation is an absurd, please think about a watchdog for such scenario.

Please mention them that for a second I saw MBT Navigator message like (I don't remember exactly) "An Account [my account details] cannot be traded temporarily."

Until this issue is solved I would recommend to put a message like "We don't recommend setting MBT connection at startup" at a proper place of the connection setting utility.

That's the message I got as well.

          Xtrader1,
Thanks for your post on the other tread. I didn't see this one before.

Since you are apparently using MBT also, I wanted to ask if you get "price server disconnected' alerts on occasion? I usually get at least three of these per day (forex) and am trying to isolate the problem. I am not sure if it is something going on with MB/NT or something on my end.

MB says there should be no such disruptions. If other MBT users are not seeing the same alerts, it may be something on my end.

          Thanks.

I'm forwarding here a message from MBT SDK group on Yahoo. May be it will help developers.

            ===============

How to handle the pop-up dialog "Trading temporarily unavailable" -
            REVISED

This dialog appears when one of our front end server/routers loses
connectivity. This is different than the loss of connection with the MBT
Desktop (a.k.a. Navigator) perms, trading or quotes objects.

This condition will cause the MbtOrderClient. OnAccountUnavail able event
to fire for any lost MbtAccount object connection that resides on one of
those front end server/routers. When the account (MbtAccount object)
becomes available again, you will see its OnAccountLoaded and
            OnAccountLoading events fire.

Please disregard any previous mention of the OnAlertAdded event.

            Phil

I see it more than 3 times a day. Since MBT Nav reconnects automatically, I can live with it. May be it is caused by Internet connection quality in your and mine place.

This was triggered by my request. Unfortunately this issue still is not resolved, I'm still in touch with MBT support.

                  XTrader1,

It doesn't seem to cause problems for me either. It has been mentioned to me that it could be the lack of a static IP address from the internet provider. I haven't checked on that yet.

                  Thanks again for your input.

                    XTrader!,

I have discovered one very real problem with the temporary connection losses that occur throughout the day and during rollover:

If you happen to have an automated strategy that triggers a trade during one of these 'down' periods with MBT, you will get the dreaded and unstoppable alerts. This will disable all functionality in the Control Center and also cause that particular strategy to shut itself down. A particularly unfortunate scenario is if it happens during rollover, you must wait for a certain period of time (??) before you re-open that chart or strategy due to a data problem that occurs with NT7 and MBTrading in forex.

I suppose that one could disable the strategy for the 20 mins. or so during rollover to avoid the data problem.

I have a static IP. An even if yours is dynamic, I don't think it will change dynamically, only if you disconnected and connected again. Then You'll get another address by DHCP server.

FYI, this issue will be resolved with next update of NT7.
