    Charts aren't updating

When I launch NT7 and connect to my data provider (Interactive Brokers) my real time charts don't start updating automatically. I have to reformat the data series by changing the date or session template in order to get them to start updating. Also, sometimes the real time charts just quit updating even though I'm still connected to my data provider.

How do I get my charts to start updating automatically? How do I prevent my charts from stopping to update?

I never had this issue in NT6.5. They always updated without any problems.

    Thanks,

    CS

    Hello cshep,

    Thank you for your post.

This may be due to the Session template you have applied. Please right mouse click within your chart-->Data Series-->Session template-->Select Default 24/5 or Default 24/7-->Click Ok.

If you would like to change the Session template associated to a specific instrument please go to Tools-->Instrument manager-->Select the instrument within the Available master instrument list-->Edit-->Definitions tab-->Session template-->Select the new template-->Click Ok.

Please let me know if the issue persists after this procedure.

Thanks for your quick response. I took a closer look and it appears that it has nothing to do with the session templates.

The problem occurs with the Tools-->Options-->Data-->Get data from server (if available) option. When this is unchecked and I connect to my data provider, my charts don't update. When I have it checked and I connect to my data provider then the charts update.

I normally leave it unchecked because it speeds up NT7, especially with backtesting/optimization. I have all the data stored on my hard drive anyway.

The help menu says that "Get data from server (if available) Enables or disables retrieving of historical data from the data provider's server." In my case it seems to be impacting real time data, not historical data.

Is this an error in NT7? Can it be fixed?

      Thanks,

      CS

This look like a bug and it will be fixed in an upcoming update. Thank you for reporting and nailing down how to reproduce.
