Problem with copy / paste of drawing tools

    Hi,
in some charts I am not able to copy/paste drawn lines, rectangles etc.. In some charts this problem occurs in other charts everything works fine. I cannot figure out why it´s working only in some chart windows!?

I tried to play with different settings for "stay in draw mode" and "snap settings", but that seems not to be the reason.

Thanks mansam, however I'm not aware of issues in this regard, what other chart property settings are you using that could affect it? Do you allow the 'dragging' of the chart's data series for example?

I played around a little further and it´s very strange.
For ex. in one chart window copy/ paste doesn´t work ! Period! No matter what I do with settings.
But in another new opened chart window it worked first. Then I changed the snap settings and it stopped working!
I changed snap settings again and it still did not work. Than I changed snap settings again and suddenly it works again I changed settings once more and it keeps working.

The error is not consistent! But it seems to have something to do with the snap settings. If there is a new chart it seems to work fine until I start changing snap settings. Than it stops working. With luck another snap settings change makes it work again. But in some cases no further action can bring it back to working.

By the way: changing the 'dragging' of the chart's data series has no effect on this problem.

Thanks for reporting back and helping us out with more details, unfortunately I was not able to reproduce this behavior here, testing on / off different snap modes. Have you already tried this operation in a completely fresh workspace, too?

Yes I just tried it on a new clean workspace.
          - First I put on a new chart and everything worked fine.
          - Then I threw a saved template on the chart and it stopped working!
          - Next I put on a new clean chart and it worked.
          - I added a SMA and it stopped working !

---- Then I put the data series in "auto scale - false" and it worked fine!!! And I could change every setting back and forth and it still worked fine !!

But… then I realized that I cannot put the data series to auto scale - false on all my charts! On some it is possible on others it can´t be done. The "true" statement is in light grey and can´t be altered. Why is that?

At last I went back to my first workspace, set up a new chart, in which I could put the data series to "auto scale- false" and ....... copy and past did not work !

Very strange . Can you perhaps give me an answer, why some data series can´t be put to auto scale -false?

By the way: I am running Ninja on Windows 7 Complete, emulated by Paralells software on an IntelMacBookPro.

            mansam,

AutoScale needs to be true for at least series on the chart. You will not be able to turn it to false for every single series because if they were all false you would simply have a blank chart.

Please describe what scenario you have in terms of DataSeries objects on the panels. Thank you.

              NT 7.0.0.15

              Hi Josh,

you have checked on my PC that Copy and Paste does not work at all, when Equidistant bar spacing is set to False. Nothing has improved so far.

As a consequence, on all charts with two or more data series Copy and Paste does not work either.

                Harry,

As mentioned during our call, we will keep our eye out for it. As we are unable to reproduce on literally all of our development machines and no other customers have reported this all we can do at this point in time is gather information until we are able to gather the critical piece of the puzzle to address it.

Hi Harry, tried your MultiSeries scenario again on my end here and could unfortunately not reproduce. Does it happen for you on all drawing objects on B16 or only specifc ones?

                      Harry,

I am lead to believe there is simply some conflict with some setting or other app that may be installed on your machine.

Searching through google, can you please try this? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Clipboard_not_working

I want to point out that my Copy and Paste works flawlessly on a large number of applications including NinjaTrader 6.5.

It also works on NinjaTrader 7, as long equidistant bar spacing is set to "True".

It does not work on NinjaTrader 7, when equidistant bar spacing is set to "False". All drawing objects are affected, lines, arrows, triangles, retracements, ellipse, etc.

                        Must be related to Ninjatrader.

My son just had reinstalled his Gaming Machine, so there were next to no other programs that could interfere with NT. Same problem.

                          So I have tested now

                          - my XP Professional Machine
                          - a virgin install of NT on a Vista notebook
                          - a virgin install of NT on a XP machine

NT shows the same behavior on all three machines, which are not related and do not have installed similar software. Copy and Paste does not work, if Equidistant Bars is set to false under chart properties, which means for all multiseries charts. Tested with a standard 30 min default chart.

My suspicion is that this could be related to country settings. Another fight between inches and the metric system, which was introduced in Europe shortly after the French revolution.

I checked the internet as well, valuable advice I found: Deinstall .Net 3.5 - would this really help?

                            Harry,

We will look into the country settings. I assume you have them set to Germany?

Edit: It would indeed seem country settings makes a difference. Thank you.

Using German settings, indeed. When Napoleon moved eastwards he brought us the metric system, which had been introduced in France in 1800. Unfortunately, he never managed to cross the ocean, so the US still uses those measures from the middle ages...
