NinjaScript files in non-compileable state - Error when running Backup

I tried to install some old NinjaScripts made for Ver 6.5 (ZeroLag Stochastics and Breakout Recognition), but they didn't work so I removed them. I also re-installed NinjaTrader 7 because the NinjaScript problem was still evident. Now when I try to run Backup (File -> Utilities -> Backup), it gives the following error message:

"You selected to backup your NinjaScript files however they are in a non-compileable state. Do you wish to continue?"

How can I clear this message and problem?

NinjaTrader 7 works great otherwise. I've done a lot of work to create black backgrounds for charts and line charts and lots of customization visually for 5 monitors, and don't want to start all over again. I simply can't save or backup NinjaScripts.

    b2fnow,

Please open the NinjaScript Editor through Tools>Options>Edit NinjaScript on any file and then press F5 to compile. Please take a screenshot of the error messages that show up and we can advise you based on that information. Thank you.

      non-compileable NinjaScript files

Opened the EMA indicator under Edit, pressed F5, and got the Error:
      Error on Generating Inicator

I've attached a screenshot of the programming errors.

        b2fnow,

The error would originate from a strategy called VolatilityBreakoutPattern. Please double click on the error message to bring up the file in question. Can you then expand the Error column so we can see the full text of the error message? These errors need to be addressed in your strategy code before you will be able to compile.

Yes, thanks for replying so quickly.

          The error message says:
The name "VolatilityBreakout" does not exist in the current context

            b2fnow,

Please double click on the error row and it will open the file in question and go to the line in question as well. What the error messages mean is that the script is using variables that do not currently exist. This needs to be addressed in the code itself. If you are not the original author of the strategy I suggest you go back to the author and inquiry about what needs to be added to get this fixed. If you don't need this strategy you could delete it from your system and then compiling afterwards should work. To delete go to Tools>Edit NinjaScript>Strategy and remove VolatilityBreakoutPattern.

              Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I'm not trying to use these Indicators. They have been deleted and removed and NT7 reinstalled, but I'm still getting these error messages. I just want to be able to clear the error and be able to backup without error messages.

                b2fnow,

You would only get those errors should those files still exist in your NinjaTrader. If you have already deleted them I suggest you not to manually delete files in the future as things can go awry with such an operation as seen here with the NinjaScript assembly. What I suggest to get this all to a 100% clean setup in this situation then is to completely uninstall NT once more, delete Documents\NinjaTrader 7, reinstall NT7. This will remove all your settings, indicators, strategies, data, workspaces, templates, etc. but get you to a fresh slate.

                  Okay, thanks.

Did that, and all is well.

I had saved my screens as templates, and copied my workspace back into the newly installed NT folder, and it all works just fine. Didn't know if the workspace would come back, and didn't want to recreate all of that.

                  Thanks for the help.
