bug report - 2 symbols, each considered "primary" in data series dialog

sorry I can't be too specific since I erased the workspace and made a new one.

I think it was on B14, but it may have been B13...

using PFG Best and switched to Gain feed and still problem persisted

Somehow I had both EURUSD and GBPUSD in my data series window...

although I only had 1 chart... it was not a 2 Chart window... nor was it my intention to be

I don't know how I have 2 currency symbols in the Data Series (bottom left window)

I only remember adding one...

I did however switch back and forth to EURUSD and GBPUSD several times using the drop down box in top left of chart toolbar

The problem I had before this happened was that ninja gave me a box saying and "bomb" kind of noise that there was a problem loading historical data in PFG...

anyhow, after I disconnected from PFG and connected to Gain I still had this 2 symbol thing in my workspace... even after restart of ninja

I tried to delete one of the symbols... EURUSD.. and it said I could not delete the primary symbol...

so I tried to delete GBPUSD... and same thing, said I could not delete primary symbol....

this and the fact that only 1 chart was shown for 2 symbols defined, leads me to believe that it is a bug

not that I wanted to have 2 charts.... but I'm just saying if it shows 2 symbols in that bottom left window of data series dialog, I'm guessing it should show 2 charts

and regardless, I should be able to delete one of the symbols if 2 are showing...

I have written all I remember and cannot provide more information

Happened again...

This is a new workspace, unrelated to previous one that gave me problems

seems to add this extra Symbol (sometimes) when I'm switching between symbols using the dropdown symbol box on the toolbar.

I'm on B14 and latest PFG adapator

I also get PFG errors when this starts to happen about not being able to load historical data for the symbol. I guess maybe because it is confused about 2 symbols being on 1 chart.

I have attached screenshot and workspace

note the TWO Primary Symbols (Neither of them can be deleted because NT7 says "Cannot Delete Primary Symbol)"

Unfortunately I could not reproduce here, when I load your workspace I just see both currencies in the same panel and could delete your second one without issue. What PFG errors are you referring to? Thanks

The dialog box that pops up saying something about cannot retrieve historical data. Which is weird because my charts are only looking 3 days back.

Anyhow...

If you look at the screenshot, don't you think the chart looks strange like that? 2 symbols in data series dialog. 2 Symbols listed at top of chart...

but only 1 chart is shown.... but it has prices of both GBPJPY and GBPUSD on it?

I have tried created windows with multiple charts in it before... and what happens is that you see 2 or more separate charts... not like my screenshot, with just 1 chart but data from 2 symbols on it.

I also stress that I never added the 2nd symbol. It somehow got there by switching between charts using the drop down box on the toolbar.

Therefore I think it would be wise maybe to check the code that happens when the charts are switched by that drop down box, to see that if somehow possibly a second symbol might be added - in the event on some error or exception being raised, e.g. if the PFG data feed were to have some kind of historical data error and pop up a dialog box.

since I do not know what ninja code is like, I'm just guessing... but one scenario I could see this happening is maybe if when you switch charts, in the code it is programmed to delete the old symbol and then add a new one.. but if some weird exception or error happens and somehow the old symbol is not deleted... maybe this could explain having 2 PRIMARY symbols on a chart.

I never added a 2nd symbol to the chart.. ninjatrader did that somehow

don't think PFG feed has anything to do with it... because I've been using gain recently and I experienced the "2 Primary Symbols" bug again...

Unfortunately we were not able to reproduce. We would be interested in steps you took to achieve the 2nd symbol though. If you know the procedure it may help us to reproduce. Thanks.

I have run into the same exact problem.

I used the Ninja Trader Help link to send email with logs and trace. These are clean logs and trace files, as when I had the problem, I shut down Ninja Trader, deleted the log and trace files, repaired the Ninja Trader database, repaired the Ninja Trader installation, rebooted the computer. These files come from the first start after all that.

To avoid clouding the issue, I removed ALL custom indicators from the chart: there is nothing but price, and Ninja Trader shipping indicators; RSI and Fisher Transform.

Here are some pictures of what happens on the screen when I try to remove the instruments.

Edit: I later removed ALL the indicators from the chart, so that there is only price. I still have the problem.
