Alert sound not playing

I have the Alert1.wav file in the sounds folder - and it works on my Vista machine but not on Windows 7.

Where can I find this audio recorder for a 64 bit operating system?
None of the ones I have tried work.

NT responsibility

As Alert1 comes with the installation wouldn't it make more sense if NT produced and distributed the file in pcm format in the first place??

Yes, we'll add that our list of future considerations. However, the sounds work on my Win7 64bit so I suspect it might be something related to your particular machine.

Thanks to Harry (a forum user) I had an idea. Could you please try this:
a) double click on the file <program files>/NinjaTrader7/sounds/Alert.wav. Do you hear a sound?
b) please download and unzip the attached file to <program files>/NinjaTrader7/sounds/Alert.wav and double click on that file. Do you hear a sound?
c) now try your script. Would it work or still same error?

Would be great if you could provide feedback on (a) - (c). Thanks

I have been unable to convert it to pcm myself.

Kudos to Harry again. Guess we have a plan. I wanted to run some more checks before I would convert all sound files to that PCM format to resolve the issue.

Dierk, would it be possible for you to add a bunch of standard type sounds to be included in the NT install folder. There are not that many sounds to select from for alerts and sounds and if I specify sound files from Windows there is always the chance they will be excluded from a version of Windows or they may change the folder or path to the stock Windows sounds. It would be nice to have an abundance of sound options without going outside of NT. Thanks, Dan

Thanks for your suggestion. I put it to the list. Our focus right now is getting NT7 stable. Thus, we leave any enhancement and such aside.
