Assembly loading, 64 vs 32 bit

Hello,

most of the time I work with the 32 bit version, only sometimes after market close I do some tests on Ninja 64...


My situation: I have a custom zweistein.custom.dll .

I have 2 places where this .dll can be placed so that it will be loaded with NinjaTrader:

C:\Program Files\NinjaTrader 7\bin\
C:\users\andreas\My Documents\NinjaTrader 7\bin\Custom\


For reasons I don't want to explain now for my situation (NTMT) it is better to place the .dll in C:\Program Files\NinjaTrader 7\bin


So far so good, and all is working fine.... under 32 bit only

using Ninja 64bit version the scenario changes and it seems that the .dll is no longer loaded from C:\Program Files\NinjaTrader 7\bin

Under Ninja 64 it is necessary to install into ..\My Documents\NinjaTrader 7\bin\Custom\

Can you confirm this ?

And how come this difference?

NinjaTrader has loads of .dll files in the C:\Program Files\NinjaTrader 7\bin directory which are loaded, so it is possible also under 64 to load a dll from that directory.

But why this difference 32 - 64 bit.

Anyone has an answer?


(to me a proper understanding of this is crucial)

Custom assemblies are ONLY loaded from <My Documents>\NinjaTrader 7\bin\Custom. I recommend creating a custom assembly using NT and importing it on 64bit Window to see how it works. I suggest NOT trying anything different.
