    Different charts

I have a friend running a EURUSD chart with data from Gain, using NinjaTrader v6.5. I am running the same chart on my PC with v7.0. Same data format, same broker feed, same number of historical days, same time zone, and we checked our PC clocks and they are in sync. However, the two charts look different. Look at the last 4 bars. How can we explain this?

    Thanks!

6.5 uses a different server than NT7 does and there are some minor bar building changes in NT7 historical data server that could impact what you are seeing.

I thought that was maybe the case, Ray, thanks. But here's a wrench in the spokes: These are two charts off my own computer, snapshots taken about 60 seconds apart. The bars are way different when I refreshed the chart.

Is it safe to say that NinjaTrader in general is unreliable as far as bar patterns go? I mean, to have this kind of difference completely changes my trading strategy.

If those two charts are from your computer than this is different than the original issue you posted.

        - On your GAIN connection, what option do you have selected for Historical Data
        - What NT version are these two images generated in?

Yes, I guess it's two issues that look the same, sorry.

Historical Data is checked for "Use GAIN servers."

The NT version is v7.0 Beta 14.

Its possible that your real-time and historical reload from GAIN could very well be different. I can't comment on the integrity of GAIN's data. What I would do is change this setting to use NinjaTrader servers. The historical data response time will be 100x faster and the data will compare better charts built in real-time. There still can be discrepancies since GAIN real-time data does not have time stamps so real-time ticks are time stamped as they arrive on your PC. The historical repository is also time-stamped on the receiving server. So, its possible that a new tick arrives and on your PC its times stamped 9:00:00 AM but on the server it was time stamped 8:59:59. On the server, this tick would make it into the 9 AM bar where on your PC, it would be on the 9:01 bar. If this tick was a new high --> You would clearly see this discrepancy on your chart.

OK thanks Ray, I will try that. I appreciate your explanation.
