    IQFeed data

Under Tools> Options > Data, when using IQFeed, is it best to check the
'Save chart data as historical' option? I have it unchecked right now, and
I have to keep right-clicking on a chart and choosing "reload historical data" to get all the data to show on the currency futures. Is this a normal behavior of having this unchecked?

dkelly, as IQFeed provides a server based backfill this should not be needed - have you also checked to 'Get data from server' under Historical chart data?

      OK. I'll leave that unchecked.
Yes, I have 'get data from server' checked. This morning all the data is showing up without my having to keep reloading historical.

        Another question to this.
If iqfeed provides historical intraday data only up to a certain period let say 1 month(arbitrary figure), and I do not check "save chart data as historical", will I be able to see today's intraday data on the chart one year later?

That would depend, if you for example log in every once in a while with the period IQ provides the backfill for, your historical data in the local NT database would be 'freshed' up each time you create a chart with sufficient lookback to cover the existing gap.

By selecting the option to save chart data as historical, is it more taxing for NT7?

Yes, this is the reason we advise to uncheck it if you're using a provider that does provide this serverside.

In the same tab, there is filter bad ticks option. Will I see any indication of a filtered bar on a chart?

Unfortunately not, however if you exclude bad ticks download as historical data via our Historical Data Manager would see it noted ('excluded').

                    A bit confused.

Iqfeed provides historical intraday data. For a symbol, chart will retrieve Iqfeed's historical data. And then plot realtime data as it comes in. Does NT7 store all these data somewhere? If at one year from now I am still able to see today's data, then NT7 must have stored the historical data and realtime data retrieved today somewhere right?
Then what is the relevance of this option "save chart data as historical"?

cbt777, correct for IQFeed this is not as important (as they provider server side historical data backfill), if you have a provider that does not support any historical data (for example the IB connection for tick based charts) you want this setting checked to create a local historical data repository (for the time you're connected live).
