Not displaying a data series - Suggestion

If I want to calculate an indicator (such as a spread or a correlation indicator) from two dataseries, I might not want to display the two dataseries, but only one of them.

I can do it now by putting the two dataseries onto one panel, make the one I do not want to display transparent (candles and outlines) and set AutoScale to "False" for the transparent one to avoid that it distorts the other one.

It would be easier to have an option though

Data Series -> Panel -> "Do not display"

for all dataseries with the exception of the first one.

You can have a multi-instrument indicator without displaying any data series but the primary. This didn't work in NT7 initially, but it has worked since around B9.

The Spread, Correlation, Ratio and Beta indicators I posted in the Indicators area all work fine even if the secondary instrument is not displayed on the chart.

          Hello kdoren,

Will you be creating Standard Deviation from Mean and Percent from Mean indicators to complement your Spread, Correlation, Ratio and Beta pair trading indicators?

          Thank you.

I've done some work along those lines but it's not really in a releasable state right now. I might do more work on it later.

FYI, you can get a visual plot that shows where the ratio is in terms of Standard Deviations from the mean, by using the Ratio indicator as the input series to NT's Bollinger indicator. The Bollinger indicator shows the SMA of its input, along with upper and lower bands which are some number (usually 2) of standard deviations from the mean. There are examples in the charts shown with the Ratio and Spread indicators in the indicators area.

If you use any of my indicators as the input to another indicator, you need to type the secondary symbol into the "Symbol2" parameter. You can't leave it blank to default to the secondary chart instrument, because there isn't any secondary chart instrument when an indicator is running inside another indicator.
