    Renko and Data

I have just started using Renko with an IB feed. My chart the following day started with no bars !!
Can you help with how I keep renko history bars?

    Hello Mindset,

Unfortunately this is as expected. A Renko interval is build by historical tick data, which is not supported with IB.

      Historical data

But I do get bars on 6.5 with my version of Renko - and surely NT retains a database of tick data itself no?
I was hoping to leave the machine on and build up data that way.

I suspect you have histoircal tick data in the 6.5 database. When I tested the Renko interval (from our support forum) in 6.5 with IB, I did not load historical renko data either.

As per NinjaTrader 7, please go to Tools-->Options-->Data-tab and enable 'Save chart data as historical'. You will save real-time tick data in the database, so it will be displayed as historical data in future sessions.

          Save data

          Thanks Jason.
I did not realise I had unchecked that.

Did anyone have any success on getting renko working with V7 + IB?
I've enabled the 'save as historical data', restart, and still does not work...

              balance,

In order for NT to save tick data for historical use, you have to have a chart or market analyzer open with an indicator applied to it. If you don't, NT doesn't save the data in its databases.

This is how it was in NT6.5. Can NT verify that this is still the same in NT7?

              Thanks

                Hello mrlogik,

You will need to receive real-time tick data and have 'Save chart data as historical' enabled at Tools-->Options-->Data-tab.

All tick data you receive in real-time will be saved in the database, so it will be displayed as historical data in future sessions.

It is not required to have an indicator applied.

That's great. This has changed since NT6.5.

                  Thanks Jason
