Some small but useful things gone missing in NT7

Firstly, thanks for letting me try out NT7 at this stage. I especially like the database transparancy (in 6.5 it was difficult to know what data was actually in there) and the "hour of day" analysis in the periods tab - that has saved me lots of time, in 6.5 I was this week going to run 24 times with if Time[0].hour = 1 ... (etc) to get this type of analysis.

It also appears to be faster and more stable + the look and feel is nice, especially the sounds.

After using it for one evening there are some simple but useful things which were in 6.5 that are not in 7:

    i. The back test dialogue (strategy analyser) does not remember parameters such as start and end date. NT 6.5 does and it is very useful - in NT7 I have to retype them too often.

ii. Export grid to excel does not work with Open Office, but it did in NT6.5. This feature was useful for me because I don't have Excel [uhg! What a cheapskate :-)].

iii) Saveto CSV does not output the column titles. NT6.5 does.

    Thanks,
    Matthew.

iv) The "control panel -> strategies tab -> right click, add strategies new strategy dialouge" does not remember any of its parameter settings. It would be great if it did.

At the moment I am testing several strategies (well, one strategy on different assets) and I have to repeat the entries in this dialogue too many times. Any chance of making it remember previous settings?

    v) The "control panel -> strategies tab -> unrealized" (and realised) P/L are reported with £ rather than $ as the unit. Is it just the symbol that is wrong, the number is still in $?

      Hello mtthwbrnd,

It will save the date settings for the strategy in the Stratgey Analyzer window you use. Once you setup your dates and you perform a backtest, the same parameters should be reflected upon performing a backtest for the same strategy. Unless you select a different strategy in between. I will forward the suggestion to be able to save the backtest parameters.

I will forward your findings regarding exporting data as well. When I tested it on my end, it did not export the column headers either in NinjaTrader 7.

You can disable the strategy in the Strategies-tab. Once you enable the strategy it will use the same parameters. I will forward the suggestion to support a strategy template, so you can load the same parameters for other instruments.

This must be caused by the currency setting of your operating system. Most likely it is set to British Pound instead of US Dollar.

      Thank you for your feedback.
