    Db transfer

    Hi,
Q: what is the way to replicate a database from
one machine to another, for example if you need to run simulations
from another machine. Also, is there a recommendation
for a mirroring software (replicate the db real time?)

    Thanks,

    Hi trend,

    Thank you for your post.

If you want to transfer your database to another PC, the best way is to create a backup file and transfer this to restore on the other PC:

    Backup:

    Restore:

        Hello trend,

Please use the steps I have provided below to move the database file manually to your other PC.
        • Close NinjaTrader on the PC you want to copy the db from
        • Documents
        • NinjaTrader 7
        • db folder
        • Email or save the NinjaTrader.mdb file to a memory stick for transporting
        • Once you are at the new PC
        • Close NinjaTrader
        • Locate the db folder
        • Document
        • NinjaTrader 7
        • db folder
        • rename the existing .sdf file to NinjaTraderOld.sdf
        • Copy and paste the .sdf file you have from your other PC within this folder
        • Start NinjaTrader
Please let me know if I may be of further assistance.

          Hi Christopher,
I see a file NinjaTrader (SQL Server Compact Edition DB File)
under db. Will the individula data files under minute and day
transfer as well under this file, or I would have to reload Historical
          in the new machine?

          thanks,

            Hi trend,

In this case I suggest moving your entire DB folder to your other PC with the steps I have provided below. With this procedure it will move all of your instrument data such as Tick, Minute and Daily.
            • Close NinjaTrader
            • Documents
            • NinjaTrader 7
            • Email or save the db folder a memory stick for transporting
            • Once you are at the new PC
            • Close NinjaTrader
            • Locate the db folder
            • Documents
            • NinjaTrader 7
            • Move the db folder to another location on your PC such as your Desktop
            • Copy and paste your copied db folder to this location
            • Restart NinjaTrader
Please let me know if I may be of further assistance.

              Thanks Christoher,
do you have any suggestions for a mirroring software
to get the data updates on a timely basis?

Unfortunately we could not recommend one trend, also I've seen issues with automatic backups run in the background which could raise access issues to the database and / or needed data files. So I would not suggest using those.
