NT7 installation on Vista 64-bit

After installing new beta on top of old one, NT7 64-bit link dissappears. (one has to uninstall previouse version, reboot, then install fresh to get 64-bit version. Is it intended?

In testing, I did not see the same behavior on my end - the NinjaTrader 7 (64-bit) icon remained in place.

Were you upgrading from 7.0.0.11 to 7.0.0.12 or was another version used?

It happened every time I upgraded. The icon remains intact, but link is invalid-doesn't work.

You are referring to the 'NinjaTrader 7 (64-bit)' shortcut on the desktop, correct?

I use Windows 7 x64, and a few beta releases ago I started seeing similar behavior.

After uninstalling Ninjatrader 7, delete the directory "c:\Program Files (x86)\Ninjatrader 7\"

Then install the new beta, and it should work OK.

Yes-NinjaTrader 7 (64-bit)' shortcut on the desktop, but also in Programs menu. In NT folder, NT 64-bit launch file is also non existent.

fafura, I noticed this myself in some of the previous betas. Please try what kdoren suggested and let us know if that solves the issue.

After uninstall, that directory is empty,when trying to delete it says access denied-I have to log off/reboot the system in order for the NT update to install properly with 64-bit version available.

When reinstalling, are you installing to the C drive or another location?

Is the installation directory on a networked drive?

Lastly, are you installing from a user account that has administrator privileges?

To be clear, are we speaking of the 'NinjaTrader 7 (64-bit)' icon in the desktop, in the Start/Programs/NinjaTrader 7 menu, or in another location?

both, it seems that upgrading to next beta erases the 64-bit launch file in NT7 installation folder (both shortcuts are invalid). Only the regular NT7 version works then.

So that I may further investigate, please send a note to Support [AT] NinjaTrader [DOT] com with 'ATTN: Kyle' in the subject line.

In the message, please include the following:
1.) A link to this forum thread.

2.) Your most current trace file.
You will find the trace file in the My Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > Trace folder.
The file will be named 'trace.YYYYMMDD.txt' (where YYYYMMDD is the most current date available).
