1 Minute/5 Minute Combo Chart Not Spaced

I have a 1 minute, 5 day chart with a 5 minute 5 days back chart both plotted in panel 1. The 5 day is set to Transparent. I add various indicators and all works well.

Close the program and re-open the workspace and the bars overlap and the chart is smushed together. They do not auto space. This is only for he 1M/5M.

I have the exact same setup with 5/15 minute and it works fine. Also a 15 M/60M chart works equally well. I have deleted everything and rebuilt and the same thing happens every time.

One time the chart corrected itself after a few hours.

    Hello hotdog,

Ok, so you have 3 data series plotted in your chart, correct? 1 minute, 5 minute and a 5 days interval.

I tested an ES 06-10 chart with these intervals. I saved a template of the chart and saved the workspace. I restarted NinjaTrader, however the chart displayed the same as it was saved.

Could you perhaps provide me a screenshot of the chart before restarting NinjaTrader and one screenshot after the restart?

No, I have only 1m and 5m - both set to 5 days of data.

When the markets are in regular session, I can recreate a chart properly and I can close the program and re-open with the chart properly redrawn.

However, when we are in the after hours session and I restart (so I can do a daily backup), the problem is consistent.

Try this after 5:00 PM CST. It seems that when the market is very thin, something gets confused with just a 1 minute tick instead of a full bar. If bars are available in the 1 minute time slots, no problem.

      Hope this helps

        Hello hotdog,

I am located in Europe and will not be online at that time. However I can test it tomorrow early morning when the market is thin as well.

Can you please verify what data series is set to transparent; the 1 minute or 5 minute data serie?

Unfortunately the screenshot is not really clear to me. Is this after you restart NinjaTrader?

          Thanks, Josh.

The 5M is transparent. I'm not sure that the multi-data series is the cause of the problem, but that is when it started showing up. However, even after deleting it and trying just a a single data series last night, I got the same bad results.

Make sure you have a full screen of YMM0 of after hours trading before trying.

            hotdog,

Are you using a Chart Template? Please try without any Chart Templates applied to the chart. Just the Data Series (1/5min) directly.

              Josh,

Yes, I'm using a template. Today it did the same thing again. However, after I was up and running again, I opened a 1 minute new candlestick chart and applied the 5m. No template, no indicators. Same problem. Putting the 5m in it's own panel made no difference. Transparency, indicators, template or not make no difference. Just a price chart.

Use 24/7 session template or CME US Index - same problem. Copied those templates to a new one and renamed. Same problem.

Set <use Instrument settings> and it works fine. Of, course, that doesn't allow for any extended hours trading. It is all about after hours and the 1 M /5 M combo.

If I try this tomorrow morning, it will come up fine.

              I'm using WIN 7 PRO

                Hello hotdog,

Unfortunately I was unable to reproduce it this morning on my end. I used 2 data series (1 minute and 5 minute) and set the 5 minute data serie to transparent. I loaded a YM chart will all historical data. I restarted NinjaTrader and the chart kept displaying data as expected.

Ok, so the issue does not occur on your end this morning as well. Please let us know if the issue recurs and let us know what exact steps you performed just before the issue recurred.

This issue ALWAYS reoccurs every night. The only way to get rid of it is to build a new chart each morning after regular bars form.

This will not go away on it's own. There is some bug here, it seems.

We will test it today after 5 PM CST and let you know the outcome.

                      Hello hotdog,

We will need to test it once more today. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Interestingly, I had the problem occur today when I re-applied the template for the 5/15 min chart. I reloaded the template as I noticed that the bars were beginning to get closer together.

Several reload attempts later, I got the correct look back.

                          Hi hotdog,

Thank you for the additional information.

Jason will follow up with you on this first thing tomorrow.

                            Hello hotdog,

Unfortunately we were not able to reproduce the issue. Price bars did not overlap on each other, see screenshot.

What happens if you press Alt + arrow up key. Do the price bars reduce in width?

I suggest to size to price bars to your liking using the Alt + arrow up and down keys. Subsequently save a chart template.

                            Check if the issue persists.

Your screen shot shows no space between bars. This is not a normal condition for any trading software I have ever owned and would not be acceptable to any traders that I know of.

You may decide to stop working on this, but NT has a problem somewhere and sooner or later it will have to be dealt with. This did not happen in 6.5.

The "no space" between bars was the way my problem started. After running for a few weeks collected data, the "scrunch and overlap was recreated each time the software was restarted around 7-8 PM CST. You have seen the proof in the screenshot I sent to you previously.

I now do a workaround now by restarting and doing a backup near the end of the regular session. It's a hassle, but not as much as the back and forth of continuing this thread.
