    Hi Josh,

This is unbelievable.... in every platform i have used and have a lot....there is an option to record realtime data and backfill them automatically when online again for a predefined list of symbols.
Is this really so hard for NT to accomplish ? a check box in every symbol's
properties is enought i believe.... it's really crazy to have open charts for symbols to record their data......

    regards
    Kon

You cannot use a Market Analyzer to store data for backtesting. The Market Analyzer can only be used to create Replay files for the Market Replay. If you want to actually store the data for charting and backtesting you need to use a chart.

Make sure in Tools>Options>Data you have "Store chart data as historical" checked.

        Agreed

Thanks Henrik and Kon -- quite right. Reliable chart data is critical to the ability to evaluate trading strategies. I too am surprised NinjaTrader hasn't addressed this issue long ago. Perhaps soon...

Thanks Chris for forwarding this to the development team.

          Hi Christopher,

Don't waste your time my friend.... developers are already aware of this suggestion long time ago...... it's a common sense matter.....just ask them why they avoid implemend some critical features in general......

          sorry for my bad english.

          regards
          Kon

            Here a solution:

Start this MultiInstrument-Strategy eHenRecordTicks (Download Section).

Start the strategy => ticks are recording now to historydata!

            No more 50 open charts.

As standard, all instruments are in the code entered for MBT Spot-FX.
Edit the code to add own symbols (see comments in the code). Its easy!

You can do this now. Open an MA, add a list of instruments, add a single indicator column with a simple indicator like SMA to a 1 minute series. This data is now stored as it comes in.

Yes the same method can be used within NinjaTrader 6.5 in order to store data.

Hey guys, how many of you are using this strategy to record real time ticks as history ?
How is the performance like ?

Given that all active ninjatrader strategies are run in 1 main thread, do you guys experience any slow ticks ? or drop ticks ?

                      thanks
