Workspace Issue

    I went and checked it on my laptop. opened 2 simple 2 - chart workspaces and it does not hang. I added some indicators and it does not hang. I added two gom recorders and it did not hang. I added a Zondor recording indicator and it did not hang. It just takes a little while to open.

    This happened the other day, everything started working after not being able to open a workspace. Again, it seems to have resolved itself. I can close a workspace on my desktop with 6 open, then reopen it without a problem.

    I am confused, but this is workable. I'll shut down @ 1:15pm West Coast time and see what happens when I reboot the computer and restart NT7.

        Charts will not load data

        I have three workspaces. Each one has two charts. When I open NT7B9, charts just sit there with black backgrounds, saying "Instrument 1 min, Loading Data" and they sit there, and sit there and sit there.

        The only thing I can do is X out the misbehaving charts and create new charts, which will work. (Except for those infrequent, but priceless occasions when trying to close one of the misbehaving charts causes Ninjatrader to totally and instantly shut down.) Then I save the workspace with the newly created charts, and it works. Until I close Ninjatrader again, and when I reopen it, the same thing happens.

        I have wasted several hours today because of this.

        Even tried deleting the workspaces and creating new ones from scratch. Then the same thing happens. Very enjoyable.

        Have never had a problem like this before. These charts and workspaces are MUCH simpler than the ones I had been using til now with no problems.

        Does this entry in the trace file mean anything:
        error=' ' forced=false

        Update: Just tried again. Added a new workspace. Added one chart to that workspace and applied one of the chart templates I had been using before. Chart froze. When I closed the chart, NT crashed instantly. Thank you, I am enjoying this more and more. How robust.


        I wonder if these problems have something to do with the "RTH" session definitions that are completely wrong for electronically traded futures, but which for some abstruse reason cannot be corrected and continue to cause all kinds of problems. I noticed that my 6E charts and workspace were infected by this blight because until just now, I had neglected to fix it in the instrument manager.

          Ricam,

          We understand your frustration and thank you for your patience with the beta process. We believe we have isolated what may have been causing corrupted workspaces which left charts stuck on "Loading data". Please try again in the next beta with new workspaces.

            NT7 is looking very promising despite these frustrations.

              Workspace size increases by 3x

              I also am facing issues with Workspaces. I had sent an email last night to support with the contents of the workspace files.

              The problem is that the size of a workspace I have increases by almost 3x (30MBs) when I try to save it. This takes a long time to load and often hangs.

              So I am stuck with not having to make any changes to the workspace and not saving them. I have an older version of the workspace which I drop in to the workspace dir to workaround.

                Please be sure you upgrade to B10 and start from brand new workspaces. You will want to delete your old ones.
