Trouble with historical data- probably me!

I paid for 10 years worth of 6E eur/us currency pair.
Having downloaded the data in the Ninja Trader 'end of bar timestamped' format I saved it to a separate drive.
I then copied it into the My Documents/ Ninja7/import folder.
I then went to Historical data manager/import tab. Clicked to generate minute and day and then selected start import.
I selected the 6E file that had 1.4 Gig of data and watched the lower control center status bar as it seemed to be loading.
Even after I have completed this task and reloaded the historical data. I cant get daily bars before August last year.
I reckon I am doing something wrong.
Perhaps someone would be kind enough to give me a more accurate step by step?
I had trouble with the 'help' page as it had specifics of what downloading and importing was but not a good sequence to follow.

I suggest you just cut out some data from that file for the dates prior to August so you can test with smaller files. Ensure that the data formatting is proper.

Thanks Josh. I have decided to put my data to the side for the time being and use the NT7 download feature.
I have tried to download data from the beginning of 2008 but although it appears to be processing I cant get data before december 2008?
IS there something I am missing in the process after downloading?
What would be the next step?

If you are downloading from NT data servers, data may be limited and you may not necessarily get as far back as you may want.
