    Charts Frozen on startup

    Hi,

    RE: NT7b9
My charts are all frozen on startup. I tried rebooting Ninja and the cpu but still come up frozen as though they are loading but they're not. After connecting to my data services, Zen-Fire or Trading Tech. the DOM and Time/Sales screens are the only objects in my workspaces that accept and process data.. see attached.. all other charts across all other workspaces remain frozen. New charts that I create are good. but not the existing charts.

attached is an image of the charts. Trace logs will be sent via email.

Instruments frozen are: CL, ES, TF which each ahs its own workspace.

    Hello Spartacus,

Please see my response to the email you sent us below.

Can you please try the following steps. Restart NinjaTrader and close all workspaces in the background.

Go to File-->Workspaces and check what workspaces are listed below(!) 'Save Workspace As'. The workspace with the checkmark is the workspace opened on your monitor. Any additional workspaces listed, are opened in the background.

Select a workspace without a checkmark and subsequently go to File-->Workspaces-->Close Workspace. Repeat this process until only one workspace is opened.

Subsequently connect to your data feed and check if all charts in the workspace that is opened on your monitor will load with the requested data.

If so, open up your other workspaces and check if they will load with data too.

Market replay possible cause of frozen charts

      Jason,

      Thanks for your reply.

I tried the sequence of steps reccommended but did not work. I just recreated the charts for those 3 workspaces.

As I posted the issue I read other threads about similar problems of frozen charts that may have been caused by the Market Replay feature. I was working with Market Replay as well the night before my charts froze the following morning. Although I use market replay in a dedicated market replay workspace, that night I did have the 3 other workspaces open at the same time while running the replay feature. maybe not closing the charts in the replay workspace or disconnecting from the Replay feed before shutting down may have caused some lock on the charts of all other workspaces that happened to be open during that time. Is there any other info on this possibility?

The good news was that all of the charts whose workspaces were closed the night I was using Market Replay worked fine as they were not frozen the next morning. It was only those 3 workspaces that were open that were affected. The safest thing to do is to make sure to close all other workspaces that are not related to replay activity.

BTW, the best I can remember this never happened to me in NT6.

      Regards,
      Spartacus

same problem - but no replay

Opened this morning with saved charts and market analyzer from last night. Have not touched replay. First "loading data" sat (AA). Did an abort. Second "loading data" (AAPL) froze too with "this request can not be aborted". Been over hour on that screen

          update

Update: I am using ver 6.5 not 7 so looks fundamental prob. removed AA from instruments. I closed up and restarted with great populated charts from yesterday as before; made connection to Yahoo and again froze on first load, this time on ADP. After 15 min hit abort and now has been setting on "aborting, Please wait" for last 30 minutes. I had a lot of charts open, maybe 25. Have closed all charts will quit and start over. This is a pain, a real pain for a beginer like me.

            elkhorn,

Please create a new thread in the normal forum sections for help addressing NT6.5. In general, don't abort the request and just let it go through. If you are trying to load a lot of data this will take awhile. Please also note that using Yahoo can be slow at times.
