Crashed when tried to open NinjaScript editor

I am testing NT7B9. When I tried to open NinjaScript editor to edit strategies or indicators (pre-defined or custom), the application crashed with the following message:

    "NinjaTrader application has stopped working
A problem casused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

    Please help.

Hmm .. strange. This looks like your installation is corrupted. Please:
    - backup any data/settings which would be of value (File->Utitlities->Backup)
    - uninstall NT7
    - download again NT7 from link we provided to you and install

    Thanks

I followed you suggestion to uninstall and install again. It did not solve the problem. I've attached the screenshot of the error message. The application just simply stopped working and closed whenever I tried to open the NinjaScript editor.

        Hello imagineer,

We suggest to uninstall .NET Framework and check if this will solve your issue.

While NinjaTrader and any other application on your PC is closed, please uninstall .NET Framework up to version 2.0. Start with the latest version first until you reach version 2.0. Do not reboot your PC in between. You can uninstall .NET Framework via the Windows Control Panel-->Add/Remove Programs (XP), Programs and Features (Vista).

Download and install .NET Framework 2.0 at the link below.

You can choose to re-install later versions as well.

        .NET 3.0

        .NET 3.5

It did not work. I am running Vista 64-bit OS. .Net Framework 3.0 and 2.0 are included as part of Vista OS and .NET 3.0 is not listed under the uninstall window of Control Panel. However, after I uninstall .Net Framework 3.5, NT7 could not even start.

            imagineer,

After uninstalling .NET, please uninstall NT7. NT7 will not work without .NET. Please reinstall .NET 3.5 and finally reinstall NT7.

I tried to uninstall NT7 after uninstalling .NET 3.5. I encountered dll error and the uninstallation of NT7 was unsuccessful.

                imagineer,

Odd. Can you try reinstalling .NET 3.5? And then removing NT7?

After reinstalling .Net 3.5, I can remove NT7. Do you suggest me to remove NT7 and then uninstall .Net 3.5? And then what?

Yes, then try reinstalling the whole set cleanly.

Just tried to uninstall and install NT7 and .Net 3.5. It did not solve the problem. I still cannot open the script editor.

I'm really sorry, but we are out of ideas at that time. We never had any similar report to your ever.

The only other option left at this time is, is there a chance you could try on a different machine?

No, I don't have another computer to work with. Do you have a Vista 64-bit machine on your end to check if you encounter the same issue?

Yes, works without issues here on my 64 bit Vista machine - do you run SP2 for Vista?

Have you tried closing NT > deleting the contents of the MyDocuments\NinjaTrader 7\cache folder and then restarting NT7 fresh?

I realized some odd behaviors, here are the steps that I took:
                              1. Bring up NT7
                              2. Create a new chart
                              3. Insert an indicator on the chart (any indicators, say SMA)
                              4. Bring up NinjaScript editor
                              5. The application crashes.

If I omit step 3, the script editor can pop up normally.

Then I tried the following steps:
                              1. Bring up NT7 (new session)
                              2. Create a new chart (no indicator)
                              3. Bring up script editor
                              4. Insert an indicator on the chart

Then the program can work normally. I can close and bring up the editor again without any issues. Wonder if you experience the same issue on your end.
