    Indicator Default restore - Suggestion

    Hi,

Changed Indicator parameters can be saved by right clicking in the Indicator window and selecting the "Set Default for ...." .

Is it possible once this has been done, to have a context sensitive "Revert to Primary Default for ......" appear?

    Thanks

    rt-trader,

Thank you for the suggestion. I have added it to our feedback list.

Here's another angle on the same issue:
I made certain changes to a custom indicator that were essential to new functionality
However, there were some programmatic settings which differed from saved defaults for the custom indicator.
The new functionality now cannot be utilized, since the defaults always overload the programmatic values.

This will make it impossible to update 3rd party addons in some cases.

Is there a programmatic way to reset indicator defaults?

        fwalton,

I am not sure I follow. When you set a default it does override whatever is programmatically set. This is what it means to be a "default". If you want a different default you will simply need to set a new default.

The current behavior is understood, that user settings override programmatic settings.

          Here's a hypothetical example:
          - A custom indicator is released, and a user sets the Plot Style property to 'Line'
          - The indicator settings are saved as Default.
          - A subsequent upgrade to the indicator is made that requires that the Plot Style be 'Bar' for a new feature to be visualized.
          - The new version is downloaded by users with the default settings. However, those with Plot Style other than 'Bar' cannot access the new feature because their override prevents it from being visualized.

(The only workaround I could determine was to rename the indicator, which would not be a feasible solution if you have a commercial user base for your indicator)

If you had an indicator that is drastically different than the first you should provide user education on how to properly install. To get rid of old defaults have them remove it from Documents\NinjaTrader 7\templates\Indicator.

Ahah! Defaults are in a disk file.
Thought they were in the db.
              This is very managable.
              Thanks for the clarification.
