Custom Templates In Fibo Tools Question...

When creating a specific custom template in one Fibonacci tool (looking at just anchor lines) it then immediately shows up identically in all other fibo tools as a custom template...and then when deleted from the initial set up fibo tool it is removed from all the others...seems to work this way no matter in which fibo tool you initially set up a custom template like this in....just wondering if that is the intended way this is supposed to work...??...seems like a custom template should be only for the specific fibo tool you set it up in...the default anchor line fibo template is specific for each tool.

Here is a short video on this...

    Thanks...

    Hi Alfred,

This is indeed the way it works. Fibonacci's share non-default templates due to under the hood reasons.

Since we're talking about fib templates, one quick suggestion for drawing tools...

Would it be possible to include an option in the template that says "apply to all windows" vs. just applying it to the selected window? Right now if you set up a template for a fib retracement and then press F8, it will always draw it only in the window that you selected. If you want to show it in all windows, you have to select it and then alter the properties by changing the drop-down option.

It would be nice to be able to specify drawing an object automatically in all windows as a template parameter.

Josh...even when creating more complex a custom template in any Fibo tool...it is then shared by alll...and if you delete it in another fibo tool, it is deleted in all.

What are the "under the hood reasons" for this...?? What does a custom template in one tool necessarily have to do automatically with all other fibo tools...??

          Thanks...

            Alfred,

Non-default Fib templates are shared. Fib tools all use the same underlying framework and as such are share templates.

Well...was this sharing of the same underlying framework an actual programming necessity...??

I just do not see why, when for example, you set up say several very specific custom cycle templates in the Fibo Time Extensions...why should that actually apply in a meaningful way to all other Fibo tools...??...can you give me a hand on that ...??....looks like this just leads to confusing clutter in all of the fibo template drop down lists...

              Thanks again....

                Alfred,

Without going into the technicals, this is how it works under the hood at this point in time and as such it uses shared templates.

                  141.5 revision...??

                  Josh...

Shared templates work OK between Fibo Extensions, Fibo Retrace and Fibo Time Extensions....but do not work properly with Fibo Circles, where price/time is divided separately in that tool.

In the examples shown in the screen shot below, I used 0 & 100 for properties in all...but Fibo Circles must use 141.5 to get a circle at the end of the anchor line, so will not work as a shared property with the other three Fibo tools, when 100 is used....you do not get a circle at the end of the anchor line there with 100....

What about revising the Fibo Circles tool (when using divide price/time separately) so that it also works with a base of 100 at the end of the anchor line. You are really measuring harmonics of the anchor line there anyway, just as in all of the others and all should share the same base to work together well.....besides...it is a a bit of a problem to work with a base of 141.5 in any case in the Fibo Circles tool to get it to work well by itself.

Another possibility for the Fibo tools custom templates...have two drop down lists per tool...one for templates just for that particular tool...and another for Fibo shared templates...

And...be able to sort the template drop down list by name....

                  Thanks...

                    Alfred,

We will get back to you on this at a later point in time. Thank you.

                      Alfred,

This is expected. When you divide price/time separately you get different looking circles at different calculated values. The anchor line will persist in its current location despite these calculated differences, so when you use that mode it may have the line end on the ~141 percentile.

141.5...have you really investigated this ...??

Well...maybe you "expect" this is the way it is...but is it the right way to look at this issue ??...

In the screen shot below you can see the 100 circle (magenta line) crossing point on the anchor line refers to the crossing of the that circle on the X and Y axis that also jives with the end of the anchor line...this is the way the calculation is done. When you use 141.5 (white line) as a base then you refer to the actual length of the anchor line, wherever or however that anchor line is laid out...you want to look at the actual harmonics of the anchor line...and the way those various 141.5 harmonics sweep through the chart...and not have to refer back to the X & Y axis to figure things out...

I would suggest to keep the calculation of the anchor line as you have it now, but add in an automatic factor of 1.415 X the values one enters in the Active boxes....I have looked at this quite a bit...actual harmonics of the anchor line give one a real picture of the tool and ones desired harmonics of the anchor line....the way you have it set up now does not do this...

Other programs do it the same way you do...and they are wrong also...

You can leave this study the way it is....but I will personally continue to use 141.5 as a base for anchor line harmonics, as that is the correct way to use this tool and make it worthwhile....

                        Thanks....
