    Remotesoft Salamander .Net Protector v3.1

I understand an upgrade to Remotesoft's Protector v3.1 is needed to protect 64-bit assemblies. There was a post suggesting they would have something out by the end of the December but nothing yet and they have been non-responsive via email.

Might anyone have an update? Since Remotesoft is NinjaTrader's preferred code protection solution and presumably a strategic partner, could someone from NT make contact with Remotesoft to get an update and see about improving support channels for NT customers, consultants, and vendors.

    Thanks,

We have sent a note to them already but I doubt that the level of service will improve. In short, this is our preferred vendor since its the only vendor that actually "works" based on our tests of many products.

      Whitmark,

I bought it, and downloaded the install yesterday. I have not tried anything. If you do not have the new version, write me a private message, and I will upload it somewhere. Maybe this will help you.

Hmmm ... Where can I find the. NET Protector version number? This is the same as the version of rscoree.dll?

          Tamas,

I have not been able to find a relevant version number on any executable, rather the link I received from Remotesoft always referenced the current version number in it (e.g., 2.2, 3.0). Might your download link reference version 3.1?

The last email I received from Remotesoft regarding my inquiry into 64-bit dlls and Win7 back in early October, 2009 states:

You need to configure your project to compile as Any CPU (you can set it from project properties). Then use our protector to generate 32-bit and 64-bit protected code.

You can use your current version [3.0] to do 64-bit from command line:

          protector.exe -x64 your.dll
          protector.exe -ia64 your.dll

Windows 7 support will need an upgrade from us, we are still working on it,
Since I am running Windows 7, I have not tested this option nor do I know for certain whether 3.1 will work under Windows 7. Any updated information is most welcome.

          Thanks,

          Whitmark

This version should protect 32 bit and 64 bit code generated from a 32 bit OS (Windoze XP)?

My email subject: "Purchase: Salamander Protector only v3 download."

              The installation file name: Remotesoft_Protector_3.0.........msi

              Email:
              • supports .NET Framework 3.5, 3.0, 2.0, 1.1 and 1.0.
              • supports C#, VB.NET, MC++, ASP.NET and other programming languages
              • The runtime is backward compatible to old versions. Namely, you can use this latest rscoree.dll runtime dll to work with code protected by previous versions of the protector.
              • the same protected code runs on all .NET Framework versions and service packs that are available today.
              • Support 64-bit mode
Use -x64 or -ia64 option to emit 64 bit code, which will be saved to "protected-x64" or "protected-ia64" subdir. The regular 32-bit is same as before. After protection, you can copy the protected code to 64bit systems for testing.
There's no mention about Windows 7....so I think this is the same.

I'll let NT Support address your question. I have attached the message you get in NT7B7 64-bit when you attempt export a protected assembly using Remotesoft Protector 3.0.
