Simulation Data Feed problem (bug?)

Hello,

now the state on my PC:

Start NT, after ...

1) ChartSimulationMode1.png
- new workspace
- connect to the simulation datafeed
- new chart (eurchf)
- result: see the image. Chart doesn't change at all and why does nt want to connect to nt dataserver?????

2) ChartSimulationMode2.png
- open my workspace (new in NT7, not migrated)
- connect to the simulation datafeed
- yellow arrow:

-eurchf does not change in MA at all
-eurchf does not change in Chart at all
-(at eurchf chart "loading data" did not display)

- red arrow:

- instruments does not change in Chart at all

- result: see the image. Chart doesn't change at all.

3) ChartSimulationMode3.png
- new workspace
- new chart (eurusd)
- connect to the simulation datafeed
- result: see the image. Chart doesn't change at all.

Problem: charts don't change at all.
On charts: only instrument, no indicator, no strategy, nothing.
In log and trace: nothing.
Reason: i don't know, i have no idea ...

1. Looks like you changed the exchange information on this instrument which is not accessible from the Simulated Data Feed. NinjaTrader accesses the NT data server because historical data is stored there which it is trying to access for this instrument. Error occurs because of incorrect exchange. You could either adjust your exchange information or explicitly open your chart with something like "$EURCHF Default".

2. Suggest you check the session templates being applied to all your windows. Perhaps you are out of session.

3. Same as #2. Please check the session templates. Quick test could be just to switch the templates to Default 24/7.

before i wrote about the result, i would have some questions.

1) Default exchange is internal data server for the simulation mode (simulation datafeed)?
2) When you add instrument to the instrument list you set instrument exchange mode. What does this mean exactly? What do i set with this? What does this effect on? (The help (6.5 and 7) only contains this: Depending on the instrument type, parameter drop down lists will become enabled. In the above example, the ES futures contract is selected which prompts you to enter the Exchange and Expiry parameters you wish to use.)
3) If instrument list contains instruments which "Default" exchange and another instrument list "IdealPro", then what is the difference between the two lists? Is there any difference between them? (There are the same instrument lists in both instruments, and all instruments setted "Default" and "IdealPro" exchange.)

1) Results: I setted default exchange in instrument manager. Charts worked, but something was not good.

A)
- Start NT.
- Opened two workspaces (one empty and one template).
- Add new chart to empty workspace.
- Connect to Simulation Data Feed.
- Charts in the 2 workspaces good.
- In any(!) workspaces open new market analyzer (not template) and add my instrument lists (Default and IdealPro exchange) the incredible result will be below:

1 charts in one window in empty workspace:

-If the chart is not $EURCHF then it stops (freeze?).

Template workspace (see the screenshot eurcfh1.png):

- $EURCHF chart works.
- $EURCHF in MA stops.
- The other charts of the instrument stops.
- The other instrument in MA works.

I have tried: i opened new MA in one chart workspace (previously empty), and add instrument lists: same result will be on template worksapce.

It can be reproduced at my end.

B) Same as A point, but MA was NOT opened anywhere. The PC left alone, all charts worked for a while. Result:

eurcfh2.png - 3 charts in one window in workspace (previously empty):

- Once $EURCHF stopped. (red arrow)
- The other 2 worked.

eurcfh3.png Template workspace:

- $EURGPB stopped. (yellow arrow)
- Everything worked.

Too much time go away, so i did not try to reproduce this point.

I had a colleague test your scenario, but we were unable to reproduce. Are you sure you don't have a session template applied to the MA that is different than what is applied to the chart?

checked. The settings are:

- Instrument list: see the eurhf1.png -> MA window

- Instrument set: Exchange -> IdealPro

- Each instrument:

- Exchange: Default and IdealPro
- Session Template: NT Forex

Each chart:

- Add from my instruments list
- Session Template: <Use instrument settings>

New test --------

C) eurchf4.png:
- Multi dataseries chart
- Add instrument from my instruments list
- Setting: as above
- Add MA
- Add my intruments list
Result: the same as the A

D) eurchf5.png: ----- After C
- Disconnect
- Connect again
Result:
- MA stops
- Charts works

Hello,

i created another instrument list and i put intruments in it with "Default" exchange. I created another workspace, i created all the charts and market analyzer again and for these i added the the instruments from the new instruments list. Everything worked.

If i open the original workspace as well, then everything will be wrong.

Is this normal operation? Do you need separete workspace, chart, MA for this and that?

Can you please be more specific as to what went wrong? Please start completely from scratch and delete all your workspaces and everything to ensure you are using a good base for your tests. Thank you.

(i watched throught the window, and here the moon rised ... and saw E.T.)

I think this is not a workspace problem.

Make it easier, i hope it will help. Please, see the movie.
I created it in 1 workspace, you will see: if the second MA opened, more data series will stop at left chart. /This problem can appear differently, like A, B, C, D points/

The diferrence between left and right side:
left --> exchange --> default.
right --> exchange --> IdealPro

I don't know if it is a bug or not, but to tell you the truth i don't understand exactly what is it for if select exchange, when i add instrument to instruments list. (There is nothing in the help.)

There is one data stream for the instrument. When you reload it up onto the right side with a different exchange you are now using that exchange, but since your first set on the left was on Default, it seemingly stops is my guess. This is something that you should not do to begin with. You should only use one exchange at a time. Selecting the exchange is needed for proper order routing when you place live trades.

Thank, you, i understood if there are two exchanges running, then it will be not ok. Independently i have a feeling that something is not correct 100%-ly. But talk about this later, because too much time went away.
