Possible small bug with restoring backup

I restored a backup from one machine installation NT 7 beta 6 to another, and I found that after the backup not all the template settings were transferred. In particular, while the Templates/Chart and Templates/ChartObject directories were copied over, the Templates/ChartSeries directory did not contain the .xml files from the original installation. I think it may be because I already had an .xml file in there, and perhaps it chose not to write into the directory because of that? Anyways, I don't know if this is expected behavior or not, but you can check it out.

EDIT: Also, the Templates/Indicators directory was not copied over, even though the indicators themselves were.

Thanks. We will look into it.

Do custom hotkeys restore from a backup...??

I also restored a backup from one machine installation of NT7B6 to another today...custom hotkey settings did not restore...all hotkeys went back to NT default settings.

Is there a file one can copy and save, then paste back in for hotkeys ?

Also...do custom sessions restore from a backup...??..have not tried that so far...

            Thanks...

              Alfred,

Looking into the Hot Keys one.

For the Custom sessions question, they are restored.

Josh...just did several custom sessions on one machine, then restored on another machine...the custom sessions did not restore.

                Thanks...

                  Alfred,

Not sure why it does not work for you. I have custom sessions and I delete them. Then I run a restore and the sessions come back. Please confirm this works.

Tried a restore 2 ways...first used a backup from another machine that had custom sessions to a 2nd machine that had none...no custom sessions showed after the restore.

Then on 2nd machine created a custom session. Did a backup of that machine. Then deleted the test custom session then used the just created backup to restore...the test custom session did not restore.

Can you give me the precise step by step sequence you are taking on this...maybe I can help you reproduce then...

                      1. Custom session template saved
                      2. Create backup with everything checked
                      3. Delete custom session template
                      4. Close NT, reopen
                      5. Check Session Manager, session template = gone
                      6. Restore backup
                      7. Check Session Manager, session template = back

Josh...OK !!..that works for me now...I had not been checking all boxes on the back up dialogue...not wanting to copy data...screen shot below on boxes I typically check...are there any boxes re data that one can uncheck and still get everything backed up re custom sessions, hotkeys etc ??...but not also back up all data...

                        Thanks for your time again...

                          Alfred,

Believe Hot Keys should be in Configuration files and session templates would be in Database.

We are looking into the Hot Keys issue right now.

                              Hi Alfred !

The restored hot keys settings were only effective after restart of NT. We fixed this, so the settings will be effective immediately after restore. Fix will be available with next update.

                              Kind regards,
                              Christian
