Error Loading Chart Data for $NZDCHF - Connection to data server not available

    I just received this message.

I know it's currently off-hours for the markets (week end), but I'm trying to load only historical data which exists on my disk.

Am I doing something that's unsupported?

This error shows up as you e.g. loaded replay data and tried to pull historical data the same time (or vice versa).

      Dierk, Thanks for your reply.

I don't quite understand your meaning, however.

Does this mean that I did something that's unsupported or broken?

I downloaded historical data (all possible intervals - minute, tick, etc., for bid, ask and last) and somewhat later tried to load this data into the chart (as seen in prior screen shot).

I did not do any replay, although I think I enabled recording of replay data, but I didn't think that would interfere with the display of historical data on a chart.

The other screen shot shows the files are there for the 5 days of historical data that I'm trying to show on the chart (5 days before the end date of 31-Dec-2009).

I'm trying to understand why you would see those error messages. In case you never download replay data from our server (File->Utilities->Download replay data), then my speculation would not be applicable.

To double check: You are on NT7B6?

Would you have a scenario to reproduce those error messages? Thanks

Dierk, I agree - it is perplexing.

I don't recall ever downloading replay data. And I have market replay recording turned on, so it won't currently let me do so.

Am I correct in assuming that downloaded replay data is stored in the same folder (with the same file naming conventions, etc.) as replay data that is recorded by NinjaTrader directly on my computer?

          Yes, I am running NT7B6.

The problem is not occurring right now, since the market is again active. If you want, I'm willing to look at this again next weekend (I'm guessing that we have to wait until after 6PM EST on Friday to reproduce the problem). I can now load the 3 instruments with no problems (with either the settings that I used before -- 5 days ending 41-Dec-2009, or for 5 days ending today -- both now work, neither worked before.)

Could it have something to do with the fact that I had two datafeeds active? (See bottom of the screen shot of Ninja Control Center in my original post.)

Storage considerations don't have any impact on that issue.

            Sorry, I don't know.

At this time it onyl would help if you had a reproducible scenario.

              I understand that.

However, I still have the question: Is downloaded replay data stored in the same folder (with the same file naming conventions, etc.) as replay data that is recorded by NinjaTrader directly on my computer?

I will attempt to reproduce this again next weekend.

                That is correct

Not sure if this will help you but I just received the same error today on 6.5.1000.14. Possibly related to the OutOfMemoryException which is thrown before this occurs.

                    jdfagan,

6.5 handling of bars data is completely different than 7 so it likely is not comparable.

jdfagan, Thanks for suggesting, however, to confirm what Josh has stated, I didn't see any out of memory problems (this time).

It's now the weekend and I just tried this again (this time with V7B7) and the problem did not reproduce.
