    Delayed/Sluggish Workspace

After running a workspace for several days, charts become very sluggish. Even control center reacts the same. I can open a new workspace with the same chart settings and will work fine. After several days ( not sure how many ) I can open the workspace that had an issue and works normal.

To clarify: Are you saying when you close the sluggish workspace and open it again, then the issue would be gone?

No not right away. After several days (not sure how many) as I just decided to try an open a workspace that had an issue and the workspace was reacting normal. I track my most recent workspace as it just got sluggish this morning.

        a) At the time the workspace was sluggish: what was the memory consumption on NT (please see task manager)
        b) do you have any custom indicator/strategies or any 3rd part components on? If so, then could you please remove those to see if that would make a difference?

        Thanks

              Hey Dierk

Fired up workspace this morning and worked fine for a couple of hours then faled. Checked task manager and CPU was at 25% , Memory was just below 2GB (1.97).
I had 2 charts open at the time ( 3min and 3 range bar ) also Dome. Had NEXGEN software running. Removed all indicators on 3 min chart with no change. Removed indicators on 3 Range Bar chart and workspace started working fine.
Applied same indicators as before and still working fine.

                >> Memory was just below 2GB (1.97).
Was this the 32bit NT version? If so, then this would be concerning. I then suggest trying a test setup without any (!) 3rd part components to see if the problem persists.

Yes.. I am running 32bit as ZenFire not supporting 64bit at this time..
I am however running 64bit Vista if that makes a difference.

System has not failed as of yet but can you tell me why 2gb was of concern as my system runs 8gb ?

                        Hello,

I posted something similar to this a few weeks back. NT7 eats up all the memory on the PC and does not release it. It gets to the point where NT becomes extremely slow and then not usable at all.

                        Thanks

                          Hello tommyjames,

I don't believe that its a memory issue as I was just below 2gb when it failed and my system is running on 8gb. Right now I have 6 charts open with 2 domes and just a little over 2gb with no issues. I have had it well over 2.5gb with no problems. Also when it did fail I left that workspace running while openning a new one with the same charts and settings and it worked normally.

                          Thanks

My system was really slow as well and NT7 consumed something like 2.2 Gb of RAM on startup. I solved the problem by deleting the log and trace files which were 1Gb plus each in file size...

                            Check here:
                            Documents\NinjaTrader 7\log
                            Documents\NinjaTrader 7\trace

                            Regards

This report sounds confusing and misleading to me.

Is there any possible relationship to NinjaTrader's use of RAM and the numbers and sizes of log and trace files found on the disk?

                              Please help clarify this.

                              Thanks.
