    Custom Session Question...

Am having a problem loading data per a custom session.
Here is a video on the situation...

World's leading screen capture + recorder from Snagit + Screencast by Techsmith. Capture, edit and share professional-quality content seamlessly.

Also tried a 1 increment custom session from 7am to 3:15pm Central...
That also loads only from 8:30am Central...missing the first 1 & 1/2 hours...

    Thanks...

Alfred, which broker or feed do you typically use? Tried reproducing here on BarChart, it loaded my custom 'split up' sessions as expected, even after the open (i.e. now) - thanks.

Thanks, same result here with Zen - tried with fresh DB and then newly setup custom session - displays as expected for me for minute and tick intervals a like (tested your 15 sec chart, too). Not sure if feasible, but would be great if you could test with fresh DB on ZenFire as well and report back - thanks.

          Hi...tried a Repair DB...no difference...

Should I do a Reset DB or rename my NT.sdf file ??

Will a system restore put things back as they were before
for anything lost doing either of the above ?? I did not save any data in my last backup.

          Thanks...

Today...the 7am to 3:15 split session has reverted to not showing data 7am to 8:30am today only.
I deleted the custom session, did both Repair DB & Reset DB, created a new custom session but still the same behavior.

Then I renamed the NinjaTrader.sdf file and recreated all session templates....still no data showing before the open for today
only in any period charts...however data is showing in any period charts...minute, second or tick... for all previous days 7am to 8:30am.

Also, now when creating a new chart, if you select this custom split session in Data Series, the chart always comes up as a "use instrument settings " chart...then you can revise the Data Series to show the custom split session, but again no data showing before todays open....but data is showing for all previous days OK 7am to the 8:30 open Central time..

When I started NT before the open this morning, data was showing 7am to the 8:30 CT open, but it will not now work for me after the open.

Would there be any reason to create the times in a custom session in Pacific times (my zone) and save in custom sessions as Pacific time ??
              Update...just tried this...still not working...

3 other other custom sessions work OK for...custom Globex, EuroFX etc.

              Thanks...

Thanks for reporting back, will set my spare PC to your Pacific timezone and try your custom one then - so to clarify - it's just the split up session for you? Other custom sessions work as you would expect?

                Thanks

Bertrand...yes...only the split custom session does not work correctly...I set this up as Central time...7am to 8:30am and 8:30am to 3:15pm M/F.
I also tried 7am to 3:15pm with no split at 8:30...that does not work either.

My other custom sessions are set to exchange times...all work OK...

Have Globex set up as a custom multi split session...Sunday 5pm to Monday 8:30am, then Monday 8:30am to Monday 3:15pm, then Monday 3:30pm to Monday 4:30pm...Sunday through Fridays close....Maybe these work OK as they are normal start & stop times for data...??

2 other custom sessions ...EuroFX and Russell 2000 are set up simple standard exchange times and work OK.

                  Thanks...

                    Bertrand...same behaviour today...no data 7am to 8:30 am Central...but data shows all previous days 7am to 8:30am.

                    Thanks...

Hi Alfred, thanks for the shots - could unfortunately not reproduce here on my main and backup PC's, my custom templates worked as expected, I even setup a week consisting of days where we for example trade one hour and then skip one just to see if it works and so far on ES and NQ I did not see an issue.

Hi again...just tried on another machine and got the same results...no 7am to 8:30am data today, but OK on other days....screen shot below...tried repair DB too...

Wonder what could be wrong. This is not that important to me...will see after next beta release...

                        Thanks...

Have several custom split sessions that go something like this...

                          M/F...
                          Pacific time.
                          5.00am...6:30am
                          6:30am...1:15pm

Sunday morning around 9:30am Pacific these were not working correctly on 2 machines live data or not...the most recent day (Friday) showed nothing in the 5am to 6:30 am period, but all previous days showed 5am to 6:30am data OK. Tried Repair DB and Rebuild DB...no difference.

Then at around 3pm Pacific Sunday ...reloaded (without connecting live) these sessions and the data showed OK in the (Friday) 5am to 6:30 am period.
This happened on 2 machines. One is a completely fresh install of 7B6.

What could be causing this...sometimes this custom session works...sometimes not ?? Have noticed this similar erratic behavior before, but cannot figure it out the reason why...

                          Update....
Changed first session to 5am to 6:29am
Left second session as 6:30am to 1:15pm

This seems to work OK now...will see...

                          Thanks...

Thanks for the update Alfred. We will keep an eye out for the original issue. If you do happen to stumble across something to reproduce consistently we would be interested.

                              Josh...

I think you must not have custom session increment times overlap at all...say you want a 2 increment split session...say 1) from 4am to the open, and 2) the open to the close. The first increment must run from 4am to 6:29am...and the second session must run 6:30am to 1:15pm (Pacific). My experience so far is that you cannot have the first increment end at 6:30am and the second increment start at 6:30am...that seems to create erratic behavior at the most recent days data...at least that seems to be the way it works for me...

                              Thanks...
