    Performance issues 7.0.0.6 beta

    Hi,
I have been testing the 7006 version all this week using end of day(EOD) charts as well as intraday charts with the market analyser. I will post my findings but before I do can someone please help me with a couple of questions?

    1) Most of my performance issues seem to be on the EOD charts using Daily, 2day, 4day,8day and 16day charts and market analyser indicators with those periods. Some of the problems were down to me and having read the performance tips help sheet I have made the market analyser and charts much leaner in cpu usage.
I use IQfeed (4.7.0.3) and even daily charts can take more than a minute to load with only one symbol in the market analyser. And this is even when this symbol has beem used before. So it seems the whole amount of data is being downloaded (70bars) each and every time (when connected to IQFeed). Is this right?

The only solution at the moment seems to be either:
    a) turn the datafeed off once all data is downloaded for multiple symbols (shifting from chart to chart is much quicker) or
    b) in menu options turn off "get from data server".

Is there a better way of stopping NT from downloading data each an every time (especially if its not in market hours)??

    2) When I watch the control panel where it tells me its downloading the data for each symbol, some of the symbols (US stocks) have start dates of 1932 and 1971!!! Is this right? Surely it cannot be loading all that data down? In the chart/data properties I only ask for it to down load from 70 to a couple of hundred bars of EOD data.

    Any help would be appreciated,
    many thanks,
    John

By the way I'm running Windows XP with 1GB ram and NT is only using 2-5% normally with occasional spikes to 25%. IQ connect is only using 0-2% of RAM. My ADSL connection is running 2MB/sec downloads and 375kb/sec uploads according to the tester. There are no other applications running apart from NT

Hi Dierk, I have sent you the attachments via the support mail function in 7006.I also included some more information about the problem. I received the auto-responder message so it seems to have gone through ok

Please disregard. I found your ticket.

However, I needed some more pieces:
          - could you please upload your DB as well?
          - your market analyzer appears to use non-standard (licensed?) indicators. Could you please create a workspace which only would hold standard indicators? I believe the issue you experience should be recreatable with standard indicators (SMA, MACD etc.) as well.

Please don't forget to provide the ticket number. Thanks

We fixed a couple of issues related which should provide a better experience after next update. Thanks for reporting.

Note: The request going back to 1971 is expected, since you had one chart running for 568 bars back of 16 days bars which would try to grab data that far back.

I should add this: Your setup has a "conceptual issue". Due to your long lookback period you force NT to pull data on time frames where there really is not data (like back to 1971). Unfortunately NT would not record that a request on "max data set" only yielded limited data. Thus, NT would not have any such data in its DB. It would try again on next request since it would not know that additional requests would not make sense as the provider just does not have any such data for the requested time frame.

Thanks Dierk for your replies. Thats good news. I was doubling the max set values in line with doubling the timeframes and did not realise I had 40 years of data being requested. Thank you for pointing that out.

Is the next beta release (7007) due out this month or next?

                    Thanks again,
                    John
