I have noticed that as I move the chart to the left, at some point (when Pivot C of the fork moves out of sight), the lower part of the Upper Median Line is no longer drawn (Andrews_2 pic).

When I move a bit more to the left, now the lower part of the Median Line is no longer drawn (Andrews_3 pic).

A trendline drawn parallel to the fork seems to do just fine, no matter how the chart gets moved to the left.

I just checked NT6.5 and this *is not* happening there.

I am running NT7B6 on Windows 7/64 bit.

More Andrews pitchfork drawing issues

I came across some more Andrews pitchfork drawing issues.


1. I drew a -25% warning line (first line) and when I moved the data to the left, the majority of this warning line has dissapeared (Andrews2_1, Andrews2_2). This time, it does not have to do with the pivots of the fork (as in the original message).

2. I tried to draw a -50% warning line, but nothing would draw. Even though, the low of the price was clearly in view. I don't believe in NT6.5 this issue exists. As I have added an arrow object and dragged that down, it squeezed the price data upwards and now I was able to draw a -50% warning line on the Andrews pitchfork (Andrews2_3).

Actually, just checked on NT6.5 on the same symbol. Although my resolution is lower on the NT6.5 machine, I had no issues drawing a -50% warning line and even a -75% one (Andrews2_4_NT65).

There is something definetelly wrong with the drawing of Andrews pitchfork, I hope you guys can get to the bottom of this.

One more fork. This time, the fork is in full view with pivots A/B/C unobstructed. Please notice the fact that the -50% warning line can not be displayed except for a very small, tiny line (marrked with the green arrow). No matter how I try to move the chart, to compress or decompress it, the warning line can not be fully displayed.

cristian, thanks we're already looking into the Pitchfork issues you raised - which autoScale setting di you use in your testing?

Did you try moving the price data up and dn via holding the Ctrl key down and then dragging the x and y axis scales?

Does this move the missing line piece back into view?

I posted again because I found that my initial thesis (the warning lines dissapear only when pivot C goes out of view) seemed not to hold water as I found more issues that were clearly not due to the same root cause.

To add to this, I believe I found instances where even a 'regular' line/trendline also is displayed partially only in some instances - so it might be more than just Andrews pitchfork.

Bertrand, I am not familiar with what the autoScale is supposed to do exactly. I am thinking that it might have to do with compressing/decompressing the chart from an up/down perspective. I have not touched the autoScale setting in the chart properties, so it is whatever the default is.

From this perspective, I can tell you I have only played with compressing/decompressing the price data on the chart from a left/right (like a zoom out, zoom in), perspective.

I think you have actually realized that as well. I wanted to reply actually today when I get home. I came to realize that playing with this 'arrow' object, when I put the arrow close to the border of the chart (up or down, does not matter), if I force it upwards or downwards it makes the price data to compress/decompress (or zoom in/out from an up/down perspective). As a result of doing that, I have realized that the lines are actually drawn just fine and at that point, they are displayed properly.

I did not know that you can manually adjust the chart in an up/down fashion using the keys, I know other software packages have some sort of arrows for that in the menu bar somewhere.
