Pivots not working

    Does not hang anymore, but still some bugs ...

    Nt 7.0.0.10

    The pivots indicator now does not hang anymore, it now plots on my charts as expected.

    However, it displays false pivots

    False values for Tuesday and Wednesday:

    Tested for ES with Globex session (local time CET) in DailyBars and CalcFromIntradayData mode.

    For all Tuesdays and most of the Wednesdays in January and February the pivots indicator displayed false values. Example see below.

      When have you updated to B10? There has been a hotfix released at the same download link. Can you please try again after installing again? Sorry for the inconvenience.

        Hi Josh,

        I installed at 8:25 Eastern Time.

        Is there any way to avoid a complete reinstall. It takes quite a time to rebuild workspaces, data base, indicators. Was the hotfix only for the pivot indicator?

          Hi Harry,

          This is what it looks like on my end in your time zone.

          The hotfix was for Pivots. I'm not sure why you would have such different behavior than mine. Maybe you could try recompiling your indicators? If not, you could try running a Backup and restore it after you reinstall?

          Edit: Actually, first, are you using special session templates?

            Hi Josh,

            could you do me a favor and just put the pivots indicator here, so I do not need to reinstall. Will then send you a screenshot created with this indicator.

            As stated below, I used the Globex session template with ES. This is the standard template that does not cut off any data. Central Time, Sun 17:00 to Mon 15:15, following days 15:30 to 15:15.

              You will need to reinstall as the hotfix impacts Woodies as well. There is nothing I can attach to you for that part of the hotfix.

              Just uninstall, reinstall NT without deleting Documents\NinjaTrader 7. It should be fine.

                So if I reinstall, could I restore Configuration, DataBase, Historical Chart Data, Templates and Workspaces? NOT RESTORING: Ninjascript Files

                  Harry,

                  When you uninstall you will uninstall all system indicators. When you reinstall, it will reinstall new system indicators.

                  Just don't touch Documents\NinjaTrader 7 and it will preserve everything custom you may have made.

                    Hi Josh,

                    thanks for your reply. Did what you suggested. Pivot indicator still displays false pivots (see screenshot below). ES, Globex session, system clock CET.

                    For NT 7.0.0.9 pivots there were several problems. The main problem was that Bars.GetSessionBar, Bars.GetSessionDate and GetLastBarSessionDate did not return correct values (see further back this thread).

                    Has this bug been removed?

                      Unable to reproduce.

                      Please use predefined session template of "CME US Index Futures ETH". Please do what I did as well. Just load a daily bar series underneath so you can easily see what data it is using to calculate.

                      There are no known issues with B10 pivots.

                        Could not find "CME Index Futures ETH", I assume you meant "RTH".

                        Josh, the bug does not occur with RTH, you need to enter the Globex session. ES is traded on GLOBEX from Sunday 5 PM to Monday 3:15 PM, other days from 3:30 PM to 3:15 PM. All Central Time for CME.

                        It takes you less than a minute to create that template and apply it to the chart.

                        Globex session is default session time for ES. It is impossible to trade ES with the RTH session template, because it cuts off the price action during the 8:30 AM Eastern Time news, which sometimes implies high volume, so the RTH session template is of limited use for traders.

                        I am sure you will be able to reproduce this, as it is 100% reproducible.

                          Harry,

                          I meant ETH. When you install B10 you should have new session templates including the ETH one. Please try resetting your DB to see if it populates in afterwards via Tools>Options>Data.

                          If not, then unfortunately I can only suggest a 100% clean reinstall (this does include removing Documents\NinjaTrader 7 directory). You can backup what you want through File>Utilities>Backup and restore it after reinstall.

                            Here is the chart showing intraday and daily bars together, The daily bars are correct. The pivots are not.

                            There is another bug that I discovered. It is not possible to draw text on the lower pane except in central position just above and below the candle. I wanted to draw a diagonal arrow. which was not possible.

I tried a database reset but NT just sat there appearing to do nothing for several minutes (also had this issue when trying to backup, discussed in an earlier post on this thread). I had to use Task Manager (Windows 7 x64) to close NT B10.

                              I've created my own session based on Globex (as per Harry) as this should be the session upon which ES & YM are based.
                              Pivots work on this template (applied to 2 minute YM) but only if set to CalcFromIntradayData. They are wrong when using DailyBars.

                              So for me this is a big step forward.

                                What is your timezone? I get the same false pivots for CalcFromIntradayData. Please check February 23.
