Freeze on misplaced order

is this a bug or do I need to go to handling exceptions with my code?

I try to place a BuyStop above the market....the mkt moves too quickly....or I am placing too close and I get an error that you can not place a BuyStop below the mkt

fine....but does NT have to freeze?....which then requires Ctrl-Alt-Delete to close.....then restart....then reconnect to live feed....then start over

if memory serves, 6.5 did not crash in this instance

Please be more specific as to how exactly you have placed the order. Manually? Strategy? If strategy, please provide the code snippet. Thank you.

I was unable to reproduce any freezing of NT when I placed such orders. Ctrl+Middle mouse clicked several cells and even on the times when it did give me back the "cannot place below market" message, pressing OK was all I had to do.

Would imagine it to be the same thing to just click the cells below the market to begin with as it is the same process and clicking OK on the message did not result in any crashes on my end. Are you able to reproduce?

yes...I can reproduce freeze/crash every time

beta 6

1. start nt
2. connect MR
3. move MR to 930 am for 23 dec NQ 3-10
4. click Play
5. click in staticsuperDOM below mkt with mouse wheel
6. total lock up of NT....no message this time.....freezes every time

perhaps there is a setting for error handling I have different from you?

when I right click on ControlCenter in Task Bar the message did appear....clicking OK does nothing as NT frozen....must close using Task Manager

tried again with live feed sim101 and no problem
went back to MR and froze again.
strange re live feed because I was live cash when it froze this morning...cost me money

Tried your steps on replay file and it did not freeze. Tried stop limit orders and stop orders on both sides of the markets for buys and sells. Couldn't freeze in replay or live.

I have nothing, but the market replay and a single super DOM open. No ATM strategies attached.

problem is atm template in MR

1. open nt....no charts....open new static dom
2. connect MR....
3. select none in atm template
4. works fine placing buystops above/below...
5. select a simple 8 initial stop, no target, 10 1 1 trailing stop
6. stop above fine...stop below freezes NT

tried the same thing on live feed and no problems with or without atm....which is strange as the original problem was on live feed with the same atm

Could you please explain what exactly (!) you are doing in steps 4, 5, 6 (Josh is off the next few days). Please be as specific as possible.

Not sure how you would select anything in "ATM strategy parameters" as it's disabled since you selected "<None>". May be creating a video would resolve any confusion.

more specifically, I wanted to test with and without an atm template to see if that was the problem

so first I placed orders with 'none' selected...no problems

then, instead of 'none', I selected a simple atm template that I created that has an initial stop of 8 ticks and a stop strategy of 10 tick trail

the freeze occurs only when the 8x10 atm template is used....in MR now...so the problem has been isolated to placing BuyStops below mkt or SellStops above the mkt using and atm template....the error message is generated however NT locks up...only way to recover is to close NT via TaskManager

however I did have a freeze in live cash trading also...have not been able to reproduce that since...either in sim101 or cash acct...live feed
