    Session Templates and DataSeries issue

    Hi,

I have created a number of Session Templates all prefixed with an A so they appear at the top of the templates list (convention "A xxxxx"). I have set these as defaults for the various instruments I use.

When I open a new chart these templates appear immediately below <Use instrument settings> in the drop down. I leave this (Use instruments settings) as the selection since the instrument default should then be applied.

When the chart opens it uses the correct Session Template on initial load, then almost immediately, the chart refreshes and at the same time it grabs the first of the custom templates and reloads the data accordingly.

This happens every time a new chart is opened and it doesnt matter which template from the list is used the first from the custom list is selected on the refresh.

Once the chart has loaded any template subsequently selected is 'held' without further change.

This is an issue we're look into right now. Thanks for reporting though.

      Hi rt-trader,

this is similar to what I observed, but not identical. Here is the difference:

First loading: Session template from template list.

Second loading reported here: first custom template from dropdown
Second loading I observed : session template defined by my customized chart template

Could it be, that you saved a customized default template in a way that it includes the first custom template from dropdown? In this case the second loading would be triggered by the chart template's session template (which by chance was the first template in the dropdown menu).

This would be expected, as the chart template's session template overrides the session template from the window.

No need for any speculation. Please see my post below: we're looking into that issue right now. Thanks

          Hi Dierk,

Not sure if you implemented a fix for this in b6 - but just to let you know that in b6 it is still occuring.

What exactly are you observing? What is the exact scenario?

              Dierk,

              As per Post 1 below.

How exactly would you figure that?
                >> and reloads the data accordingly

Note: Don't get confused by the multiple, seperate loading processes which needed to be in place.

                  re Pictures attached.

                  1. Session manager with custom templates shown at top of list

                  2. Opening chart for 1st time just prior to pressing OK (Instrument is set to Aus 24 as default - so reasonable to expect that template will be applied with session times as per template)

                  3. Dataseries window after chart has been opened - Session template selected is not the instrument default but is the first in the custom list. This has been 'grabbed' by NT for reasons unknown. Data loaded is as per 'grabbed' template times.

                  4. Dataseries window after correct template has been applied. From this point on the no matter what changes are made to Period etc the Session template selected is 'held' and data is loaded accordingly - ie with correct session times.

                  OK?

What session templates does your Default chart template have -> that would be activated and NOT the one you selected (which was <use instrument session>).

That Dierk was EXACTLY what MY problem was...

Thankyou and apologies for the time wasting.

This does however highlight that a "Things to be aware of" list to accompany the general release of 7 could save considerable support time...
