    "F" is for frustration?

I am frustrated with a set of charts on one screen- relatively short term ones and a long term chart on a separate screen. When I move global cursor on the long term chart all the other charts get out of whack and I have to hit each "F" button to get them back, losing my place with the long term chart in the process- what does that "F" button stand for? I would like to know how to maintain the aspect of candles whatever the chart when moving globally?
    Thanks

"F" stands for fixed scale. Please check our our Help Guide (Press F1 within NinjaTrader) and check out the Chart section, "Navigating a chart" I believe. Can you clarify via step by step instructions what you are doing, the behavior you see and what you expect?

    Thanks

Ahh- so the chart will automatically switch to FIXED when I alter the right hand scale. But not switch back to auto when I scan through some days back ~and find no price data in view.
Often I have the situation where price data is too "tall" on the screen and I want to 'scrunch' it smaller but retain the automatic function for when I scan back days worth of data- of as I mentioned previously- move the global cursor to a longer term chart causing all the price data on the shorter term charts disappear.
It seems cumbersome to me to manually then have to "re-auto adjust" my shorter term charts if I have in the interim time inadvertently "scrunched" price to view it more clearly.
      Hope that makes sense.

        Same problem

I have exactly the same problem. Usually charts autoscale, when scrolling back in time.

From NT 6.5. I am used to vertically compress the chart a little by using the left button of the mouse just right of the y-axis. If I do this with NT 7, AutoScale is gone forever. When scrolling back in time, the data will move out of the chart window.

          That's it Harry- Exactly.
It took me a while to understand what was going on because the 6.5 seems so intuitive in that respect.

Problem not solved for NT 7.0.0.6

Autoscale still does not work properly for NT 7.0.0.6. - same as 7.0.0.5...

Maybe it was not clear, what we were looking for. In NT 6.5. you would display you charts with an upper or lower standard margin. As this could not be set under chart properties (only right side margin could be set there), you would visually adjust your chart with the mouse. Once this margin set, it would remain and be respected by AutoScale, when scrolling back in time.

Now if you scroll back, you have the choice:

            - either autoscale with no margin
            - fixed scale (data moves out of chart, when scrolling back)

So everytime, when scrolling back, I have to unlock "F" (fixed scale) first, then scroll and then reset my initial upper and lower margins.....

Another option would be to have an upper and lower margin set under chart properties. For visual discretionary traders it is next to impossible to trade off a chart that has no margins....

              Harry,

It is not suppose to behave like it does in 6.5 at this point in time. It is a new concept. If you compress the chart, you are in fixed scale. When you are in fixed scale you will not be using any auto scaling.

I understand. To put it simple:

NT 6.5. had AutoScale with a mouse-set upper and lower margin.

NT 7 has AutoScale without upper or lower margin (useless for a visual trader) and a fixed scale (an additional useful option).

Basically we would like to come back to AutoScale with an upper and lower margin! If this cannot be set via mouse, why not include it with the chart properties? The right margin can already be set there!

                    Thanks Josh!
I guess it may seem like hair splitting after all the wonderful advances- but I have to agree- that is the one and only function of NT6.5 that is more intuitive than NT7 at this point.
                    Thanks

In NT 6.5 and NT7 you can scroll the chart horizontally by clicking on the chart and dragging left to right. NT should add the same functionality to enable vertical scrolling by clicking on the chart and dragging up and down. Right now NT7 can scroll vertically using CTRL-Drag in right margin which is cumbersome when you are scrolling backwards using the chart drag. Just make a call to the vertical srcoll function but assign it to Click and drag on the chart.
