    Pivot Levels Different Between Charts

    Hi

I have a 144-tick chart and a 2 minute chart of the YM. I've applied the built in Pivots indicator (both set to infinite look back, Type = Daily and PriorDayHLC = DailyBars ) but am getting different levels between the two charts.

The levels on the tick chart are the ones that are actually correct.

Also, after applying the indicator I have to reload data otherwise even the tick chart pivot levels are way off.

    Any ideas as to why?

    Thanks,
    FatCanary

Was unable to reproduce on my end. Suggest you first try clearing out all of your data and getting 100% fresh data.

Thanks Josh. How do I clear all data?

        FatCanary,

Close all your charts, go to Historical Data Manager, delete all nodes for the related instrument. Also, be sure your charts are using the same session templates.

Can I ask what datafeed you're using and also what setting you have for Maximum bars look back? Because I'm still struggling here, even after clearing all historical data.

Also, now, after reloading historical data into the 144-tick chart, there is a far amount of data missing. I rebooted and tried again and as soon as I set bars look back to infinity and reloaded data the data is still missing. I went back to 256 bars look back but still have missing data.

The first attachment shows before I changed bars look back to infinty (2 minute was already set to infinity).
The second attachment shows the 144-tick after changing to infinity.

          Thanks,

            FatCanary,

I am using Zen-Fire and it is set to infinity for mine. Looks the same even when I use 256.

Please ensure you actually have daily bars as that is what you are trying to access with DailyBars mode.

Please ensure you are using the same session templates.

Your pivot levels appear to be incorrect.

                FatCanary,

Pivots in NinjaTrader are calculated based off of whatever data you have. Comparing it against another source is not the best way to go about it as they can calculate the pivots off of different data. There is an article discussing this here: http://www.ninjatrader-support2.com/...ead.php?t=4676

So what session template are you using?

I have mine set to 24/5 as daily pivots should based upon the previous day's high, low and settlement prices.
In any case my two charts that have pivots still do not match - it shouldn't be this difficult.

I realise we are testing a beta NT7 here but I can't help re-iterating what I've said in other threads, 'I never had this bother in NT6.5'. :-)

                    FatCanary,

I have tried on 3 separate machines now, all coming up with the same pivot values. I have tried Default 24/5, Default 24/7, and also your custom session template. All same results.

Attached is the complete contents of my db folder. Please close your NT, remove everything from your Documents\NinjaTrader 7\db directory and replace the contents in full with what is in the zip. Then reopen NT and don't connect to anything and just use the data off of the database.

I tried YM 03-10 on 144 tick and 2 minute charts.

How do I use the data off the database? I've done as instructed but have, pretty much, blank charts with today's data missing.

                      Regards.

                        FatCanary,

Please try Mountain time on your PC. All you have to do is copy the contents of that zip into the db folder when NT was closed. After you restart NT, it should have it all in place.

If that still does not work, please send in a note to support [at] ninjatrader [dot] com with Attn Josh while linking to this thread. Please include a phone number we can reach you at. We would like to schedule a remote login session with you for some time next week. Thank you.

Right, setting PC to Mountain time has given me data and the pivots on both charts match. However, they don't match your earlier screenshot.

And where does this leave me when I have to go back and rely on my own data ;-)

                          Regards.

My earlier screenshots were taken from a different computer with different data source.

What feed are you using yourself?

                              Zenfire and IQFeed.

I've also just gone back into NT6.5 and the pivots are working as they always used to, and match my calculated levels.
