Historical Data Manager

From NT 6.5. I know that the data base grows and grows, and that it is often corrupted. So I am used to regular daily and intraday backups to reload it. The DB easily exceeds 100 MB for only a few instruments, although I do not use tick data. The backup procedures take a lot of time, similar to rebooting Windows.

So here comes my question for NT7. Does the historical data manager allow me to sort out and delete historical data that is no longer needed to keep the size of the data base limited?

In particular I want to delete data for instruments no longer required and reduce the size of the intraday data for merged futures carried forward by cutting it off at some date in the past.

Might try to export data to be kept, then delete the data base and then reimport the exported lot.... but does NT7 allow anything easier than this?

- NT7 no longer stores historical data in the database so any potential issues that arise with respect to historical data storage in the DB should no longer arise
- NT7 swaps out the MS Access DB for a better SQL compact edition
- NT7 Historical Data Manager will easily allow you to delete, edit, import, export and load historical data should you desire

Excellent, how do I delete data?

In the Historical Data Manager, select the "Edit" tab, then select on any node in the left hand tree view, right click and select "Delete".
