    Saving of Info / Spikes

    Hi guys

Couple of issues, these are happening to me sporadically and I been trying to catch one on video for you but difficult to replicate, I thought I would throw them out there and see if anyone else has reported them or if there is a work around or somewhere I should be looking at to sort it.

    1. My chart properties don't always seem to be persistent through sessions, the main one being "Days to Load", often I will restart Ninja and on a restart it hasn't saved the last value that I've put in there. I notice this often because all my pivots go up in the air with the message not enough data to load indicator. I'm definitely saving workspace as I go in and manually choose to save it after the change and still it loses the values.

    2. This could be my feed (MBT) but it's happened twice sporadically so I'm still trying to track it down, I got a spike on my GBP/USD feed last night at 22:00, huge long candle and one on my USD/CHF feed at around 19:00 last night, the spikes were to large to be considered market movement and I checked my Gain feed and it didn't have the same spikes. I imagine there could be a bad tick issue that I'm experiencing but I don't remember ever dealing with random spikes on 6.5 on this feed. I'll continue to monitor to see if I can catch a good example, the last two unfortunately were gone after I restarted Ninja which seemed odd as I reloaded historical a couple of times before restarting and they didn't disappear. So yeah, I'll continue to monitor and hopefully be able to track it down, in the mean time if you know of anything like this would be great if you could give me some pointers?

    Cheers

As a quick update on point 1, I've spent more time on it and I've found that if I create a new chart completely, the values seem to persist. So whatever has happened to all my existing charts I'm not sure. I've figured out why it goes to zero, it seems each time I save and restart, it decrements the days to load number by 1, really strange. It only does this on my existing charts though, so perhaps it's some sort of corruption as I moved these charts from my other machine using the back up/restore. What I've done is gone and recreated them all from scratch now and deleted the ones I originally brought across and I'll watch out to see if they start losing values again, so far so good, they are persisting (in the same workspace, so seems to have been chart specific).

For now probably not worth following this one up as it could've been a one off corruption related to me backing up and restoring across machines. If my charts start behaving like this again I'll let you know.

      Ross,

Thanks. For #2, you could try editing your data in the Historical Data Manager to clear out the spike.

I have done so, the problem is the spikes are stopping out trades in my simulation account that I'm running to test various ideas and so on. As far as I can tell they don't look like they are coming from the feed. The next time one pops up I'll see if I can get some more info on it.

I get the Days To Load going to 0 issue also (it was also mentioned on another thread). I haven't been able to pin it down though.

For instance this past weekend I had a workspace open that had been open for a couple days (without restart). It was saved, and I added a couple more charts to the workspace and saved it again. A short while later, I restarted NT7.5b, when the charts came up, the new ones loaded fine, but all the old ones didn't. A quick check of the Data Series and sure enough, all the old ones had Days To Load set to 0...even though they were saved with Days To Load as 3. It's happened several times before also. This is the closest I've come to realize that it was only the oldest charts that got reset to 0.
