Data Box not Updating in Realtime

I've noticed that the Data Box does not update in realtime. What I mean by this is if I place the cursor over the current bar (and having clicked on the chart) the OHLC numbers shown in the Data Box do not update when those numbers change on the chart. I have to move the cursor to the left, back over previous bars, and then back to the current bar to get the lastest values after which, again, they do not update.

With NT 6.5 I could place the cursor over the current bar (or slighlty to the right of it) and the Data Box updated in realtime to match the chart.

I realise this may be by design but that would be a shame if that is the case as I used that functionality a lot.

We just tested and the behaviour is the same between 6.5 and 7 which is the Data Box bar values do not change as the actual bar changes.

That's weird. I've just checked and you are correct.

Is it possible that something has changed because I definitely used to be able to watch the Data Box update in realtime in NT 6.5. I used this 'feature' a lot but, since reporting it in this thread, it no longer works.

Please tell me I didn't imagine it ;-(

Nothing has changed with the 6.5 Data Box since its inception? Strange for sure.

I've hooked a chart and Data Box into the simulated feed and managed to capture the Data Box changing in realtime, albeit lagging by a second or two in some cases. It looks as though the Data Box updates if there's a change in volume.

The capture was made in Jing but I don't know if I'm able to upload this for you if necessary.

I've checked NT 6.5 again with a live feed and the Data Box definitely updates to match the current bar but, it appears, only if a change in volume is registered.
NT7 Beta does not do this and it seems as though the Data Box never shows any change in volume for the current bar.

Obviously I've no idea how NinjaTrader is programmed but I have noticed a difference in how the Data Boxes update between the two versions.

Having said all that, if the Data Box in NT7 does no update in realtime by design then that's fine.

If you think about it, any update to the chart should change the volume, so if it was a volume driven event, it should change every tick. I tried it with 6.5 and get no updates. However, the slightest movement of the mouse (even tapping the desk) will cause it to update.

Yeah, that's what I thought - any change in last price must change the volume.

Anyway I'm just going to accept it the way it is 'cos it's making my head hurt ;-)
