7B5 Workspace Persist & Chart Compression Problems

Closed a workspace where had some charts saved with no toolbar or chart trader showing, plus a 22 pixel right space set (had set by "apply" method...(left screen shot below)..saved all before closing...

When workspace was reopened...toolbars and chart trader are now showing, plus space to right has reverted to 100 pixels (my normal default). (right screenshot below)....and where equadistant spacing had been set to True things reverted to False on the 2nd screenshot attached.

Also upon reopening a workspace all charts open in a greatly expanded mode (and they had all be set to max compression upon closing workspace)...this was to have been fixed but is still haywire.

Have also noticed a number of times...a chart will obviously not be at max compression even tho you are hitting Ctrl up arrow to compress...then if you change the period from say 10 ticks to 11 ticks the chart will then go to max compression OK.

Also noticed...you are now setting various space at the right side of the charts where the prices are shown...the problem there is you want your last bar on stacked charts to line up...perhaps you can offer an option to set that space in pixels too ??...and also be able to set top and bottom margins in pixels...charts are running into labels occasionally.

Just to confirm, you are trying this with new workspace files correct?

That workspace was from 7B4...except for renaming and some modifications...

I will create a new workspace and see how it works.

Just did a new workspace...included 4 small charts that were set up without toolbars...upon closing and reopening toolbars appeared again on all. Equidistant spacing did not generally remain as set to true (where before it also did not)...on these charts a space to right setting of 33 pix also generally reverted to 100 pix again.....on another chart a space to right of 11 pix reverted to 100 pix again.

Some of the other large charts opened greatly expanded as before....where they were all at max compression on closing.

This new workspace is not working any better than before...

I will look tomorrow to see how charts open and compress etc throughout the day. There has been a problem where a chart is obviously not at max compression and you cannot compress more...but when you change the period then can compress....

Here is another question...In left screen shot below...chart is set to max compression...in right screen shot below I grabbed the left side of chart and reduced horizontal size...you can see how you have the same exact chart pattern but in a smaller window now...how can this be if you were at max compression in the larger chert already....then if you change the period by 1 second in the smaller window the horizontal scale seems to correct itself to a similar scale as in the original larger window.

In NT6.5...when you reduced a chart window in horizontal size as done in the example above, the scale remained the same in both window sizes....is this a bug in 7B5 or what ??....

Any ideas ??

With Data Series set as shown in screen shot...am not getting a price marker showing on the chart now. The first time I set this up in "overlay" had a marker on left side of chart updating...redid the .sdf file recently...markers has disappeared...

Update...if scale justification is first set to "left" then switched to "overlay" you will then get a price marker updating on the left side of the chart...you cannot get just a marker on the right side in any manner...which would actually be better in the "overlay" setting.

Was able to reproduce your original workspace issue with toolbars hiding.

I did not quite follow what you meant on the chart compression one. Can you please provide me with exact steps to follow on a 1 chart basis for your chart compression issue and the price marker issue. Thank you.

The compression video does not cover one issue that is sometimes seen...ocassionally a chart will open in a very expanded state as a new workspace is opened...and you will not be able to compress it any at all...but if you change the period of the chart even slightly (by 1 second or 1 tick) it will then become easily compressible to the usual max compression if you wish.

Playing a bit more with several fairly new workspaces this evening...the equidistant bar spacing and chart trader shown as off on some charts now seem to be stable upon closing and reopening of a workspace...currently, only the toolbars reappear on some charts where they were not showing upon closing.

On 3 tick charts set to Scale justification of "overlay"...on those charts where I had managed to have price marker's showing on the left side...these markers did not appear again on re-opening.

Also..Friday evening, after hours, one large 22 second chart would not fill in correctly with todays data after closing the program and restarting with live Zen Fire data and would also not fill in upon reload data. This behavior seems consistently sporadic. Data currently generally seems to fill in charts better during regular market hours....then Saturday morning connecting live it filled in OK.

Sunday morning update...I redid the 2 videos initially linked in the post just below and changed the links there...

These 2 are now a little more accurate I think...

Playing around with this a bit more today...In addition to toolbar setting of false not always persisting....Chart Trader set to false and Equidistant spacing set to true settings also do not persist in all cases when a workspace is closed and then opened again. This is on a fresh workspace too.

12 07...Right side margin also does not always persist.

Hi Alfred,

Hmm. I was unable to reproduce what you experienced in the first video or any of the chart compression ones on my end. Perhaps you could try a 100% clean reinstall of NT7B5? Any information on what chart settings, chart properties, data series settings you are using would be great too.

I was able to reproduce the second video's overlay price marker issue though. When you use a chart with no right scale, you will not see an overlay price marker. If you had a right scale you will see an overlay marker though on the right side.

This compression behavior thing works identically for me on 2 machines...another install not required....here is another video just did on my main machine (the first one was done on a 2nd machine)...

You should not have to redo your period setting to verify that you are set at max compression correctly on a chart...

Thanks Josh...had not tried with the scroll bar on...

This is a problem...say you have a chart 2/3 width of the screen (no scroll bar) ...then you expand to full screen...the same number of bars will be shown full screen....where in NT6.5 you would get more bars when going full screen....but with scroll bar on in 7B5 you get more bars...

I assume this will be fixed ??
