    Line on Close width unstable

    To reproduce:

1.Open a chart - choose Line on Close.
    2. Set the width to 2.
    3. Scroll with the mouse the time axis to the left as much as you can in one go.
    4. The line width jumps to greater than 2 depending of how much you've scrolled (could be 5, 9, 14 etc.)

    astra,

This is by design. As you zoom in by pulling the time axis the line will grow with you just like how if you did it with candlesticks, the candles "grow".

      Josh,

I must admit that I find it a rather strange design concept (the same applies to NT6.5 but I thought things will change in NT7). It associates detailed focus of a part of a chart with price (only!) blindness!

That's why in post's 1 chart I placed three moving averages together with the line-on-close. The moving average lines remain the same (width=1), but the price line-on-close from width=2 became 16!

If we accept this design concept (== You must be visually impaired if you like to see/study some part of a chart in detail) then this should remain consistent with all drawing-object-widths on the chart (not only price) and increases/decreases them all accordingly.

But even with this concept try this experiment with candlesticks:

Say, I am not comfortable with the default width of 2 and I try width 5.

Result chart 1 below. Oops.. I see the overlapping of the candlesticks, but I am still happy with their size so i decide to increase the space between them. How? Logically by scrolling the time axis with my mouse to the left, right? Check the result in Chart 2. Instead of the space between the bars to be increased as expected the outcome is that the candlestic width is increased from 5 to 29! and the overlapping remains the same!

It seems that something is not right here and I don't know if it is me, but I prefer to have control of my the chart style width and to remain the same as I set it in my chart properties (especially now that we have multi-dataseries and indicator overlays) .

        astra,

This works the same as it did in 6.5. If you use a large bar width it can overlap the previous bar. Increasing bar spacing also increases bar width. Why your bars are so scrunched to begin with is a different story. Please try opening a new chart.
